In addition to the textbook and class lecture notes, I strongly encourage you using the survival guide in the library to prepare for the quizzes and exams. You can come to see me or visit the accounting lab at Goldstein for additional help. Quizzes are normally given at the beginning of the class indicated in the syllabus. Of the eight quizzes given, six will be counted, up to a maximum of 72 points. Quizzes consist of short and long problems. No make-up quiz will be given if you miss the quiz for any reason or come to class late. No extra time will be given if you come to class late on the day of the quiz. No points will be given for a missed quiz. Quiz # 6 is a takehome quiz due March 22. If you are unable to attend the mid-term or final exam, you must contact me prior to the exam or within 24 hours after the scheduled exam. It is your responsibility to contact me by phone or by email. I need to hear from you personally. A doctor’s letter is needed for serious sickness and a letter from your senior supervisor is needed for extremely unexpected work emergencies. Business travel, working overtime, filling in for co-worker, and vacation plans, etc., are unacceptable reasons. A grade of zero will be assigned to the missed exam for unacceptable reason or failure to contact me timely. If you miss a midterm exam for an acceptable reason and have contacted me timely, the make-up mid-term exam will be taken according to my schedule. It is your responsibility to rearrange your schedule to take the make-up exam. If you request a make-up exam, I will review your Pace academic record. The mid-term and final examinations consist of multiple-choice questions. If a class was cancelled on the day of a quiz or mid-term exam, the quiz or exam would be automatically postponed to the next class without further notice. If a class was cancelled, you MUST login to Blackboard and your Pace email account to complete any self-study materials and assignments posted by me. Calculator with programming or text-storing functions and calculator with a typewriter-like keypad cannot be used in quizzes and exams. Students cannot share calculator in any quizzes and exams. You can access this course’s website at blackboard.pace.edu. The site has course outline, announcements and other supplemental materials. Cell phone or other electronic communication device MUST be turned off during the class period. Please don’t send/receive text messages or surf the Internet in class. The use of any electronic communication device during quizzes and exams is considered cheating. If you need to use a computer or e-book in class, you HAVE to sit in the front row. Please charge your device before class. 2 10.
