Divisibility Rules
When we say a number is divisible by 2, we mean that 2 divides evenly so the quotient is
a whole number.
2A number is divisible by 2 if the digit in the ones’ place is 0,2,4,6 or 8.
Example: 356 / 2 = 178
3A number is divisible by 3 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 3.
Example: 351 /3  3+5+1=9 and 9 is divisible by 3. 351/3=117
5A number is divisible by 5 if the digit in the ones’ place is 0 or 5.
Example: 865/5=173
6A number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by BOTH 2 AND 3.
Example: 612/6  It ends in an even number-6 so this number is divisible by 2. Add up
the sum of the digits  6+1+2=9 so it is also divisible by 3. 612/6=102
9A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of the digits is divisible by 9.
Example: 981/9  9+8+1=18. 18 is divisible by 9. You can even continue adding the
digits 1+8=9 which is divisible by 9.
10A number is divisible by 10 if the ones’ place is a zero.
Example: 740/10=74
