4. Draw the graph for 01010101 using the Manchester scheme. Repeat for differential Manchester.
5. Assume the bits 11100000000000 are moving over a link (to the right) using AMI and B8ZS
scrambling. Draw the graph and assume the first non-zero signal is below the time axis.
6. What is the maximum number of consecutive zeros for the 4B/5B block coding scheme? (see
table 4.2 on page 111)
7. Calculate the Nyquist sample rate for a band-pass signal with a bandwidth of 200KHz and the
lowest frequency equal to 400KHz.
8. A band-pass analog signal is to be digitized. The highest frequency of this analog signal is
20KHz.

◦ If each sample has 16 bits, compute the number of quantization levels.
◦ Calculate the bit rate for this digitized signal.
◦ Calculate the signal to noise ratio (in db) for the digitized signal.
◦ This digital data is to be transmitted over a long distance using AMI with scrambling.
