Roanoke/ DC Mission
OVERVIEW
The Northern Kentucky Tri-ED and the PDQ team will target the “best bet” companies in Roanoke,
Virginia and the Washington, DC region for expansion and relocation opportunities that bring new
business and jobs to the Northern Kentucky area. The mission is planned for February, 2008 and
the target list of companies will consist of previous leads uncovered through the PDQ program as
well as new leads based on the Focused Objectives Profile.
IDEAL COMPANY PROSPECT
The North Kentucky Tri-ED would like to meet face to face with companies within their
target industries (listed below) that are located in or around Roanoke, Virginia as well as the
Baltimore/ Washington, DC metros.
Target Industries:

Advanced Manufacturing – including industrial machinery and equipment; process automation and controls;
advanced materials/polymers; surgical and medical equipment; and medical and pharmaceutical products.

Professional Office – including corporate headquarters; regional sales, technical, and support operations;
large shared services; and back office support facilities.

Technology – including informatics; data analytics; healthcare information; risk assessment;
telecommunications equipment and services; software and hardware development; education courseware;
environmental services; and bio-informatics. With added emphasis on RFID, Auto identification, wireless
sensor applications, gaming software, and other emerging NKU Technologies.

Automotive Suppliers- specifically, Honda & Toyota Japanese suppliers (US Headquarters).

Roanoke, Virginia area (to include: Roanoke, Botetourt, Franklin and Craig counties)
