EARLY APPLICATIONS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
There is no out-of-pocket expense for participants. SAEP is designed to be challenging. It demands a five week, seven day
commitment from each of the participants. It is best suited for those students who are highly motivated and who are
strongly committed to a graduate or professional education. Participants may have no other outside commitments during
the program, including weekends.
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION*






First generation university student.
All majors within the School of Social Sciences or Social Ecology.
Minimum 36 units completed with at least a 2.8 GPA.
Completed the lower division writing requirement and preferably, though not required, one year of statistics or calculus.
Must be enrolled at UC Irvine for the 2013-2014 academic year; preference given to students who plan to graduate 2015 and
beyond.
1 Letter of Recommendation. Please have your recommender submit letters to saep@mail.ss.uci.edu no later than March 15.

WRITING ASSESMENT AND INTERVIEW


On the day of the interview, applicants will complete a 30-minute unprepared writing assessment.
Interviews for SAEP applicants will take place April 8-12.
