Developed, enhanced and maintained automated software test applications at Ciena Corp.
in Spokane Valley, WA, a provider of Ethernet products targeted to high-availability, hightraffic applications such as Video On Demand, Voice Over IP and metro Ethernet services.
Test applications were primarily written in Tcl. Commercial QA tools used included Ixia
traffic generators, MGSoft SNMP tools, and MKS and Accurev source code control.
Responsible for running and monitoring regression tests for multiple concurrent software
releases, analyzing test failures within assigned areas of responsibility, filing defect reports
and verifying fixes.
September 2005 to March 2006:


Provided software quality assurance services to Seagate in Colorado Springs, CO in
support of development of Seagate’s Intelligent Storage Brick RAID device. Primary
responsibility was maintaining the existing regression test suite, comprising approximately
six thousand lines of Perl code, including bug fixes and updates to follow product changes
and new product features.
August 2003 to June 2005:
Software Quality Assurance Engineer -- VIEO Inc. (now Cesura Solutions, Inc.), Austin, TX




Designed, developed and executed complex test suites and test plans for testing Layer 2
networking functionality of the VIEO 1000 enterprise management appliance. Analyzed
test failures with respect to IEEE protocol standards conformance.
Wrote new code and adapted existing code to run IXIA’s ANVL protocol conformance
suites on the V1000.
Developed utility applications using C, Tcl, Perl, XSLT, and PHP to aid product developers
and test engineers with automating complex test environments, configuration and
migration.
Maintained and enhanced a web-based Test Plan and Test Case tracking tool using PHP
and PostgreSQL.
January 2003 to March 2003:


Provided software quality assurance services on a contract basis to IT Masters Inc. in
preparation for the latest release of their MasterCell enterprise monitoring product.
Responsibilities included verifying old bug fixes and reporting and following up on new

Designed, implemented and unit tested new features, feature enhancements, and bug fixes
for a digital cable television navigator embedded systems application using C++ and objectoriented design and programming (OOD/OOP) techniques in a cross-platform environment.
Ported and tested large business applications written in C and C++ to several UNIX
platforms including Sun Solaris/x86, Compaq (DEC) Tru64, and IBM AIX.
Performed source code control, software build, install image packaging and release
management using SCCS, make and System V pkg tools.
Served as customer point of contact and technical team lead for a group of four developers
performing maintenance, feature enhancement, and troubleshooting of Tivoli TME 10 on
multiple UNIX platforms.
Ported Tivoli System Inc’s TME 10 distributed (client/server) enterprise management

Performed quality assurance of large integrated business applications in a NEXTSTEP
environment including test design and development, problem isolation, and final

Designed and developed operator interface software for the Amdahl 4745 Communications
Processor.
