Wicked Fun Final Assessment on the Progressive Movement
Using a poster display, create a way to answer the question “What was the Progressive Movement?”
Requirements:
1) Include these topics in your presentation:
a) The origins of Progressivism: Why did this movement happen and what were the
goals?
b) What role did woman play in the movement?
c) What contributions did Theodore Roosevelt make to Progressivism? Include the
Square Deal and the New Nationalism. Use one quote from his New Nationalism
speech.
d) What contributions did Woodrow Wilson make to Progressivism? Include the New
Freedom?
2) Use illustrations to help answer the question. You may draw them yourself or you may get
them on line. Use at least one illustration for each answer.
For example, it might be a good idea to include a muckraker cartoon in the first part
about why the movement happened.
3) Create a title that has these words in it: capitalism, laissez faire, reform, Progressivism
4) Explain and illustrate your answers to the questions in #1 by including at least two specific,
historical examples for each to show your understanding. These examples must be explained
and connected to the question’s answer.
5) All written explanations must be your own. Do not print out any text from the web or
from other sources, and do not copy from your textbook.
