Price to replace textbook: $151.80
A. Supplies: 1) A 1” maroon binder with loose-leaf only for Spanish class.
(Four sections: classwork, homework, vocabulary, tests/quizzes)
2) Spanish textbook.
3) Spanish / English – English / Spanish dictionary (Not electronic).
4) 2 black/blue pens and a highlighter.
B. Being in class: 3 lates equals one cut. You may not leave class to go get your books or
your homework. You and your stuff must be at your desk at the bell. Please remember
that 24 absences mean you do not get credit for the class. The bathroom pass is for
emergencies, not a stroll around the school, and is not for daily use. You must make up
missed tests/quizzes on free periods of after school. If you miss notes because you were
absent or late, you may not copy them during class time because you will be missing that
day’s lesson in addition.
C. Homework: Homework will be collected and graded. Any homework copied from
another student will result in a zero for both students the copier and the copyee.
D. Your class work/class participation: Your class work/class participation grade will
count for 20% of your grade. You all begin with a grade of 100 for your class work/class
participation. Some of the work completed in class will be collected and graded.
E. Projects, Quizzes & Tests: 60% of your grade. You will have about one quiz or test
per week, (normally on Fridays). Most quizzes will be announced in advance. All tests
will be announced at least one week in advance. If you are absent, you will have one day
to make up missed tests/quizzes. After that you will lose ¼ credit per day.
F. Cheating – Will not be tolerated. You are cheating if you copy someone else’s
homework, if you use a computer to translate work, or if you talk during a written test or
a quiz. You are cheating if you allow someone to copy from you. You will not receive
credit if you cheat.
G. Grading Policy:
Homework = 20%
Class work / class participation = 20%
Test, quizzes and projects = 60% (Tests will count twice)
Your grade for the year will be computed by adding the four marking period grades plus
the Final exam divided by five. You will have a Mid-Term exam in January.
H. Final course grade – Will be computed by averaging the four marking period grades
and your final exam grade.
I. electronic Devices: Must be silent, out of sight, and may not be used during school
hours. Students that are caught using the phone or any other electronic device will
have to give me their phones or any other electronic device and pick it up after 3:00
PM.
J. What to expect this year: This class can be taken for College credit, therefore the
work that you will do in this class will be on the college level focusing on all four skills.
(Example: literature reading, analyzing and discussing music, literature and films and
also writing essays). In order to receive College credit you must get a grade of 75 or
better per semester.
Thank you for taking the time to read this over. Please call the World languages office
with any questions. I hope that if any issue or need for extra help arises, that students or
parents will inform me so that I can take the necessary steps to help every student be as
successful as possible. I am excited to start this new school year with you. Effort and
good attitude will make this a great year for all.
Sincerely,
Señora Pincay
