Project Management Methodology and Controls
The Project Manager authored a report entitled as above in April 2003. This report
discusses the PRINCE2 methodology that was, at the time, being implemented in a
number of projects within LBB.
PRINCE 2 provides organisations with a standard approach to the management of
projects. The methodology embodies proven and established best practice in project
management. It is widely recognised and understood, and so provides a common
language for all participants in the project. It therefore provides benefits to the
organisation, as well as the managers and directors of the project, through the
controllable use of resources and the ability to manage business and project risk
more effectively. PRINCE 2 enables projects to have
A controlled & organised beginning, middle and end
Regular progress reviews against a) plan and b) Business Case
Flexible decision points
Automatic management control of any deviations from the plan
Involvement of management & stakeholders at the right time and place
Standard templates are stored on the LBB shared drive to be used in all projects to
ensure a standard corporate approach is being used not only internally but also with
suppliers. Standard management products fro which there are templates include
