You may not use notes or the book, or any other aides.
Prepare for the quiz by studying the slide listed below (in your book), and the
vocabulary, questions, and list appearing below. Check the Web site regularly to find
out what pages and/or chapters you should be reading.

Describe the work Damien Hirst’s Stalin (also known as Red Nose Stalin or Joseph Stalin by Damien
Hirst) that we viewed and discussed in class. What was Damien Hirst’s goal with the artwork?
Why did he paint the red dot on the painting? Was he critiquing something and/or poking fun at
anything?
Is The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living by Damien Hirst art? (This is the
big Tiger shark piece.) Describe it and explain why or why not the piece should be regarded as
art. Express your opinion!
Describe the work The Way Things Go by Fischli and Weiss that we viewed and discussed in class. What
is the content of the work (what is it about)? What key vocabulary word can we associate with
the artwork?
