Personality Project
Background: Personalities have long interested people around the world. Every person you meet has a
different personality or a “characteristic pattern of thinking, feeling, and acting.” How do we obtain these
personalities? How do our personalities affect our lives?
Your task: You will pick one famous person from the list below to analyze their personality. You will assess
their personality using four different perspectives. Ultimately, you will provide a case folder on your person.
Inside your folder you must have a minimum of ½ page dedicated to each perspective (four page total with
at least one half page of writing on each). Be creative with how you could present each perspective.
Information: You will use your book and any outside resources to psychologically assess their personality.
Get into the mind of a psychologist! The information and vocabulary must be used accurate and appropriate.
However, this is an opportunity for you to be subjective as long as it complies with the psychological
perspectives.
Requirements:
*Each page must be typed, 12 Times New Roman, and single spaced
*Minimum ½ page for each perspective to assess your person’s personality
*Answer the guiding questions creatively yet academically
*Go further than the guiding questions. (Key word: guiding)

they on the pyramid and why?
 Would Carl Rogers report that your person had an unconditional positive regard?

3) Trait Perspective:

Example of a page in your case:
Mrs. Marchman
Evaluated using the Psychoanalytic Perspective
Superego: Mrs. Marchman would qualify as having a strong superego in
Freud’s opinion. She is always thinking about what students and the
community needs, and values her religious faith. She also….
Id: Her id is often inhibited, because of her position in society as a role
model for students…..etc.
Ego: Her ego is very well balanced considering that she is able to repress the
id in order to be a techer in the community. She…
Defense Mechanisms:
1) One defense mechanism I noticed while meeting with Mrs. Marchman is how she uses repression to
forget about losing her father. When I ask her questions about her father’s influence, she…….
2) Another defense mechanism that I constantly see is rationalization. Whenever I confront her about
any of her shortcomings, she always tries to justify why she acted that way. For example, the other day
she had extreme road rage on the way to work. When I confronted her about it….
Rorschach Inkblot Test: Mrs. Marchman interpreted this inkblot as a dark
horse. This demonstrates her tendency towards negative and ominous things.
This would adequately describe her personality and lifestyle as she often is
found contemplating deep and dark issues. Freud would see this as a
representation of the absence of a father. He would say that she has repressed
her feelings….
Childhood: Mrs. Marchman’s childhood has had a great influence on her adult life. Growing up as the
youngest of four children, you can tell that she is always striving to catch up with the rest of the family.
Her actions of being Class President demonstrate this aspect of wanting to prove she is just as good as
her siblings. She also lost her father at the age of nine, which…..
