To subsidize the cost of offering private music lessons to middle and high school students
who demonstrate financial need.
Arts Council of Chautauqua County, Jamestown, NY $10,000
To support a Radio Apprentice Program targeting Hispanic youth offered in collaboration
with Jamestown High School and the Arts Council’s radio station.
Associated Colleges of Illinois, Chicago, IL $10,000
For the Hispanic College Readiness Initiative for students in the Pilsen neighborhood of
Chicago. The program aims to increase high school graduation and college enrollment
rates of low-income, minority youth.
City Year, Philadelphia, PA $10,000
To provide a matching grant to expand the Starfish Corps, a 20-week after school service
learning program currently serving 120 elementary school students in three schools. City
Year is a member of the AmeriCorps National Service Network.
Family Re-Entry, Norwalk CT $10,000
To increase enrollment in the Champions Mentoring Program that matches children ages
nine to 13 who have a parent or close relative in prison with volunteer mentors.
First Night Westport/Weston, Westport CT $5,000
To promote the Battle of the Bands, a youth event held at the Westport Teen Center where
teens vote for their favorite band in conjunction with First Night, an alcohol free,
community-wide celebration of New Years Eve through the arts.

To support of Radio Arte, a youth broadcasting initiative that provides children aged 14-19
an opportunity to be creative, responsible radio broadcasters.

For general operating support to assist with the planning and production of community
murals and to provide art-education programs targeting under-served and at-risk youth.
PB&J Family Services, Albuquerque, NM $10,000
To fund the KidPACT program for school-aged children who have incarcerated parents or
come from families with a history of criminality.
SoNo Arts, South Norwalk, CT $5,000
To conduct community arts workshops for at-risk children identified by the Norwalk
Housing Authority who will create public arts murals. Approximately 48 children and eight
parents will participate.
The Bay School, San Francisco, CA $10,000
To support an admissions workshop designed for aspiring eighth-graders from ethnically
and socio-economically diverse communities to encourage them to consider attending the
Bay School and other competitive, independent high schools.

To assist with costs for a variety of improvements in the children’s area. The library is
currently conducting a capital campaign drive to renovate and expand the entire facility.
