Firstly, thank you for your positive and constructive comments about our successful Season
Launch at Breezes Restaurant last Friday night – it was wonderful to meet up with our many
new members and also catch up with our existing ones. Our Special Guests, Robbie Warnock,
Mitch Robinson, Alex Marcou and David Rhys-Jones all enjoyed the experience and thanked
us for our hospitality. They really did whet the appetite for what promises to be a great
season.
Once again, The Carltonians have gained a lot of new members so this Newsletter will be
along the lines of an Information Sheet so that we can answer as many questions as possible.
Each year we produce a Carltonian Members Directory and a lot of the information below is
featured in that Directory. However, as we are still getting member information together, the
Directory will not be available until after the first couple of home games.

President, Vince Loccisano) on (03) 9642 8080 during business hours by NO LATER
THAN 5pm on the WEDNESDAY prior to any Carltonian Match Day function in 2009. As
all of these are being held on Fridays or Saturdays in 2009, the booking deadline will
be STRICTLY ENFORCED with NO EXCEPTIONS!!! This is a strict instruction from the
Club and the caterer.
Our first match day function this year takes place on Saturday 4th April vs Brisbane @
The Dome. Arrival is at 5pm and the game commences at 7.10pm.
(2) CAR PARKING:
10 Car parking passes are included in your Membership Kit – 6 for The Dome (each
match is identified) & 4 for the MCG (matches are unidentified).
At The Dome, enter the northern end of the stadium via Car Park D & E (off
Wurrundjeri Way) and park your car on Levels B2 or B3 inside the stadium.
Parking officials will ask you to hand them your car parking pass for that game, so
make sure that you take the correct one or you’ll be denied access. Once your car is
parked inside, take the lift to Level D (Dining Room level) where the Laureate Room is
located on the right hand side of the lift lobby.
At The MCG, enter via Gate 7 (off Brunton Avenue) and hand the Parking official one
of your 4 car parking passes. Then park your car as directed by the Parking
attendants. Unlike The Dome, your car will be parked outside on the lawn, so be
prepared should we encounter inclement weather.
Once parked, walk around to Gate 1 (Ponsford Stand) at the city end of the Stadium
and enter via the door located to the far left hand side of Gate 1.


Meal:
o

When you hear the Carlton Football Club theme song being played, you should
prepare to be seated at your table and bring to a close any conversations or
discussions with people on your table. Our Match Day Host for 2009 is triple
premiership player - David Glascott. During the speeches and interviews, we
ask that you and your guests not engage in conversation with others on your
table and be respectful to David and our Special Guests of the day. It is every
Carltonian’s responsibility to ensure that their guests adhere to this request as
well, so if you hear idle chat at your table during the speeches and interviews,
do not hesitate to remind those people to be silent.
Dining Package:
o
o

See below (General Times) for details on when to arrive at the ground,
depending on whether it is a day or night game, and whether it takes place on
a Friday or Saturday. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by a Committee
member, who will then ask you to register your attendance (including any
guests) with Jane Keogh at the Registration Desk, so that we can note your
arrival, collect any necessary payments, hand you any relevant information
and direct you to your table. Please note: Junior Members & Guests and
Youth Members & Guests will be seated with their parents/guardians on a
table with other Members who have brought children. Youths and Juniors are
expected to dress in a neat, clean and casual fashion, but are also welcome to
wear Carlton football clothing if they so wish (i.e. CFC Guernsey, scarf, cap,
beanie, etc).
There is a Code of Conduct for child behaviour at The Carltonians and
Members are required to take responsibility for children in their care.
Adult Members & Guests (18 years & over) will be served a 2 course gourmet

and soft drink, which can be ordered via one of the waiters servicing the room
or by ordering a drink at the bar in the dining room.
Youth Members and Guests (13 – 17 years of age) will receive exactly the
same 2 course gourmet meal as our Adult Members and Guests (with the
exception of alcoholic drinks), whereas Junior Members & Guests (5 -12 years
of age) will receive a children’s meal such as fish ‘n’ chips, chicken ‘n’ chips,
burger ‘n’ chips or similar. Youths and Juniors will be provided with beverages

the player who kicked the first goal of the game in our “1st & Last Goal
Competition” so that the winners can receive their prize (see “Match Day
Fund-Raising” below for more details).
The bar is open from the moment you arrive until around an hour after the
match has ended. This is approximately a 6 hour period of time.
Members are free to order drinks at the bar at anytime during the Match day

(7) MATCH DAY SPONSORSHIPS:

These sponsorships are highly sought after – especially for ‘blockbuster’ games and
matches against other Victorian based teams. Steve Browney is the Committeeman
responsible for sponsorship. Steve has advised that many of our home games have
already been sold so be quick to secure yours.
Match day sponsors have the opportunity to promote their business or practice by
having their company logo and details on the front cover of the Match Day Menu plus
a brief summary of the company’s history and activities mentioned by the match day
host and The President during his speech.
Furthermore, if you wish, you may have flyers and brochures relating to your company
placed at all the tables or on everyone’s seat as they arrive.
Please contact Committeeman - Steve Browney on 0418 314 243 to receive further
information and to book in your Match Day sponsorship for Season 2009. Steve is
happy to answer any questions and assist you on the day!
(8) FIRST GAME – RICHMOND VS CARLTON (Thursday 26th March @ 7.40pm):

As this is an “AWAY” game, Members will need to make their own arrangements for
this highly anticipated match, where the 2 former West Coast Eagles Captains and
Back-to-Back Brownlow Medallists from 2004 & 2005, Chris Judd & Ben Cousins, will
compete against each other for the 1st time!
We have been advised by Mandy Hunter (Coteries Manager at CFC) that all corporate
dining passes for the Carlton Football Club organised function have been sold out for
many weeks! However, those Members with 16 Game Season passes as part of their
membership will be able to gain General Admission into the MCG. Members will have
to organise their own Reserved Seats (subject to availability). A crowd of 90,000+
people is expected!!!
(9) Carltonian Sponsored Players:

The Carltonians are yet again Player Sponsors of Heath Scotland (No.29) and Kade
Simpson (No.6) for the 2009 Season. Heath and Kade are both vital members of the
team’s leadership group and both finished in the Top 10 of the Club’s Best & Fairest
Award for the 2008 Season. We are very proud to sponsor them and both our boys
are delighted to be sponsored by the Carlton Football Club’s longest serving and
original Coterie – The Carltonians!!!
(10)

Carltonians Best Player Award:
At each game during the year (including Away games), Vice-President - John Redmond
will ask various Carltonians to vote for the 3 best Carlton players on the ground. This
is a much sought after award by the Players and has been going since 1975. The
Carltonians Best Player Award Winner is announced at the Club’s Best & Fairest
Awards and is presented with a valuable prize as well as a plaque commemorating the
Carltonians Award.
From this year forward, the Award will be known as the “William Cook Trophy”, in
honour of our only remaining foundation member, Bill Cook Snr.
Bill is now in his 45th year as a Carltonian (the Coterie was established in 1964) and
the Committee feel very privileged that Bill accepted this honour.
*Death of Ray Garby: It is with great sadness that the Spirit of Carlton (Past & Present)
advised us of the death of Ray Garby, who passed away on 15th March.
Ray was a 1947 premiership player and will be greatly missed by the Carlton Football Club
community. The Carltonians pass on our condolences to his family.
In closing, we hope our boys can finally make it into the finals for the first time since 2001, as
we look forward to achieving yet another record breaking season for the Carltonians. With so
many new Members coming on board, we are nearing capacity, so if you know of anyone who
wants to join us in Season 2009, please urge them to do so quickly. I look forward to seeing
you all at our first home match against Brisbane on Saturday night 4th April.
