ValueOptions® Transition Information
Effective July 1, 2010, ValueOptions® was awarded the contract for Utilization and Quality Control
Peer Review of Inpatient Psychiatric Services for Medicaid Beneficiaries Under Age 21 (RFP DMS
2010-05) and Outpatient Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (RFP DMS 2010-06). In
order to implement a smooth transition from the current contractor’s authorization process to the
new contractor’s authorization process, the Division of Medical Services has provided
instructions on when and where to submit authorization requests.
Transition Timeline
The current Prior Authorization process will continue through June 25, 2010. APS and/or First
Health will continue to determine Prior Authorization requests received through June 25, 2010.
ValueOptions® will begin accepting Prior Authorization requests on June 26, 2010. Continued stay
authorizations initially received by APS and/or First Health will be submitted to ValueOptions® at
current recommended guidelines on and after June 26, 2010. Providers are reminded that the
current Medicaid Prior Authorization and extension of benefit rules and policies remain in effect.
ValueOptions® Webinar Trainings
In order to assist providers with continued training opportunities, ValueOptions® is offering webinar
trainings in June and July. Please visit the interim Arkansas provider website at
http://www.valueoptions.com/providers/Network/Arkansas.htm to access the invitation and to register
for a day most convenient for you.
ProviderConnect
ValueOptions® Provider Online Services portal is called ProviderConnect. On June 10th, providers
will be able to register for login information for ProviderConnect. To register for ProviderConnect, go
online to http://www.valueoptions.com/providers/Providers.htm. Then, click on the “Register” link on
the right hand side of the screen.
The registration process is one quick step during which you will have to enter your ValueOptions®
provider ID or your Medicaid ID number. At this time, the majority of Arkansas providers will not
know their ValueOptions® provider ID and therefore will need to register by using their Medicaid ID
number. The last page of this memo provides a screen shot of the ProviderConnect registration
page with some helpful directions to guide you through the process.
