Many Species!! One Planet!! One Future – “When TCL acted to nurture nature” – WED Celebrations 2010

“Take care of the environment and it will take care of you” and
Environment awareness quiz programs were organized for
with this thought in mind “Conservation, Care and Commitment”
employee kids and families to involve them and make it a part of
their lifestyle. Green Badges representing TCL’s solidarity towards
- was the mantra across TCL on World Environment Day which
was celebrated on 5th June, 2010 with a lot of support and
contribution from employees. All across our locations from
Mithapur to Haldia and from Babrala to Nanded employees
joined hands and came forward to protect and nurture the most
important form of life on our planet - “Environment”.
With banners and posters displayed all across the plants at
Mithapur, Haldia and Babrala townships and offices, employees
were sensitized about the theme “Many Species, One Planet, One
Future”. Communication campaign “Act to Nurture Nature”
focusing on various forms of species on the planet and how TCL
is contributing in their conservation programs was conducted to
focus on significance of bio diversity, flora and fauna. Eco Polls
were conducted through the intranet to evaluate and assess how
responsibly employees use the natural resources at their disposal.
One of the biggest threats that environment faces today is
“plastic” which poses a major danger to biodiversity and keeping
in line with this Cotton and Paper bag distribution activity was
conducted at various locations.
“protection of biodiversity” were distributed and they were worn
by all to champion the cause.
TCL Mithapur organized a unique quiz competition - “Know your
sustainability Report” to create awareness about the various
sections of our prestigious publication. Environmental film shows
beach cleaning, free toy train rides for children, fun filled games
(tug of war; passing the ball; treasure hunt) and sports were
organized by volunteers for children. The KM team of Mithapur
site organized a K café on - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle of wastes
where in participants suggested 100 opportunities.
At Babrala employees and community were sensitized on the
global issue of Biodiversity loss and sustainability through
communication meets, emails, printed materials and display on
notice boards. An Environmental awareness cum Quiz program
was organized for the housewives of township on 3rd June 2010.
During awareness training, emphasis was given on “Importance of
biodiversity and its conservation". Great emphasis was given on
the status of water resources and consumption patterns with an
appeal to conserve water resources. Lecture competition was also
conducted for township ladies on the theme. Environment Quiz
Competition for employees was also organized on 1st June 2010.
More than 50 employees participated in quiz competition.
During the concluding function on 5th June 2010 a lecture
competition was organized for employees on the theme
“Many Species. One Planet, One Future.”
At Haldia various theme based competitions focusing on “Many
Species One Planet - My TCL”, Emergency Preparedness, Brain
Teaser - Quiz Competition for Employees, Environment and Safety
awareness rounds, Know our Sustainability Report, Work place
Safety were conducted.
We owe a clean and beautiful earth to our children and it’s
imperative that we educate our children and teach them to care
for the environment. Poster competitions, drawing competitions
and poetry competitions were organized at various locations to
make the younger generation a greener generation.
To make the celebrations more fun and interesting events like a
Fun Eco Poem on Act to Nurture Nature, Dumb Charade,
MAD-ADS were also conducted at Mumbai and Nanded locations.
All in all it was an extremely fun filled World Environment Day
Celebration all across TCL when employees truly walked that extra
mile to nurture nature and protect it.
