Supporting International Operations
This panel will focus on the practical concerns that arise from supporting a
company’s international operations. Among other issues, we’ll discuss: how
do you establish the relationships with clients in international settings that
are necessary to advise them effectively; what role does travel play in
maintaining these relationships; how do you educate yourself on and
ultimately navigate cultural and other non-legal concerns that can affect
your understanding of the issues? The panel will include in house lawyers
who are involved day-to-day in providing advice and guidance to their
companies’ international operations, and will be moderated by Henry
Nassau, the chair of Dechert LLP’s corporate securities group.

work with and receive the most value from outside counsel in business and
finance matters. In today's competitive economic climate, general counsels
need to be strategic with their use of legal advisors as well as their
communication to enhance their own value among management.

It is no secret that the role of the in-house lawyer continues to increase in
scope, visibility, responsibility, and most importantly, opportunity. As a
result, when it comes to leading beyond the traditional realm of the
"lawyer" role, an increasing number of in-house attorneys are discovering
that they require a different set of tools than those that have served them
well in the past. Today there are leadership qualities that are associated
