Confirmation to William de Borno, yeoman of Guy de Lezignan, the
king's brother, of the wardship of the land and heir of Henry le
Chamberleng, with the marriage of the relict of the said Henry, which
the king had granted to Guy.
July 4.
Clarendon
Eespite from knighthood, for three years from Michaelmas, to John le
Poure of the county of Oxford, for a fine of half a mark of gold.
Prohibition to archbishops, bishops, abbots, officials, archdeacons,
deans, judges, provisors or executors, throughout England from molesting
by pleas or provisions W. bishop of Ely, who at the prayers of the king
and council is going to the king of Spain on arduous business of the
king and for the good of the realm; the king haying taken him, his
household and possessions under his special protection until his return.

Protection with clause, until forty days after his return for the said
bishop.
The like for the following going with him:—
Kichard de Kilkenny, his knight.
William de Sancto Goramo, his clerk.
Simon de la Horton, his serjeant.
Simple protection, for life, Thomas, bishop of Lismore; directed to all
persons of Ireland.
Grant to Segneron Espes, that of the wine he brings to England he
shall have, for three years, 60 tuns of wine every year, quit of prise
except the king's ancient prise; with mandate to the takers of wines to
permit this.
July 8.
Clarendon.
Grant to Peter Gacelyn, brother of Geoffrey Gacelyn, of 10Z. a year at
the Exchequer of Easter for his maintenance in the king's service, so
long as he be in that service.
Protection, with clause, for Richard earl of Gloucester, gone to Almain
as the king's envoy; so long as he be in the said parts.

Respite from knighthood, for three years from Michaelmas, to Ellis tie
la Falayse, of the county of Southampton ; for a fine of 1 mark of gold.
The like for four years from Michaelmas to Robert de Wauncy, of the
county of Northampton ; for a like fine.

Grant, for life, to W. bishop of Ely, that he shall be quit of common
summonses before justices or inquisitors, as well of the forest as others,
in the several counties in which he has lands.

Simple protection, without term, for Reynold le Viscunte of Thanet.

Confirmation of a lease for six years, whereof two have elapsed, made
by John son of Jolland de Neville to Richard Gruscy, citizen of York, for
the whole land of the said John in the town of Pickehal, with the capital
messuage there.
Exemption, for life, at the instance of the prior of Newburgh, of Adam
Ward from being put on assizes, juries or recognitions, and from being
made sheriff, coroner, escheator, verderer, forester, agister, regarder or
other bailiff of the king against his will.
