Goal
The goal for the seed grant was to establish a preliminary direction for
this future project.
Long term goal of the project is to create a radical paradigm change in
the Textiles Complex via the framework of Unit Operations.
Abstract
We had some initial meetings with individual members of academia and
industry. Existing models of “language-links” between various levels in
the textile and apparel pipeline were evaluated. We are presently looking
for a concrete partial example to demonstrate the effectiveness of the
“abstract language” approach.
It is too early in the project to report actual progress in the project; initial
findings indicate that the abstract language may have to be developed in
steps, first covering two or three levels of the industry rather than the
complete pipeline, and than reaching out, or first concentrating on a
more narrow product field.
