The first event planned is a Plant Tour of the Tech Data Warehouse on September 8th. I am standing in this month for Jackie Sittley of PSSI, our chapters new President, who is taking over from Tom Sesterhenn. We, on the Michiana APICS board, hope to see you at our events this year and we hope to see more of you in attendance. Our event attendance has been dropping over the past years. We would like to hear from everyone who either is a member or is a non-member who has participated in our events in the past as to why you do not attend and/or what would draw you back into attending. We continue to think that APICS and the Michiana membership is good for your bottom line, and provides opportunities to elevate the knowledge of your workforce and enhance their careers. We are implementing some changes for this years calendar, following suggestions and comments in our event evaluations received over the past year or so. To that end, we are holding three plant tours this year. For the first on September 8th, we have made arrangements for attendees to dine following the tour at the nearby Hacienda restaurant, We have observed that primarily the only event participants, with very few exceptions, joining for dinner following were the Board members, So, for the Indiana Whiskey Company tour, there is no planned dining following. For the Kem Krest tour, I believe there are arrangements being discussed about snacks being provided to attendees. More on that possibility later. But I believe the future direction will be to not offer dining following tours allowing our attendees back to their families earlier, One of the other changes being re-introduced after quite some time since last offered is a Top Management Night. This is an event scheduled for which we hope our attendees look to bring their managers to the meeting. This event is intended to acquaint supervisors, managers, and executives with APICS benefits of membership for the member/employee and company, education opportunities, and provide a sample of the types of educational sessions our chapter provides. We are providing this event on October 13th, on a topic that should be of interest to everyone - Enterprise Wide Lean. The presenter, Larry Lukasik, will speak on some of the unique challenges in applying Lean concepts to the office or service industry environments. If you look on the website at our Calendar of Events, you will notice that there are no programs scheduled for December and March. We are taking this approach due to low turnouts for those months typically and will most likely continue until we have realized demand from our membership to offer otherwise. So, welcome again to APICS Michiana, a 2015 Platinum Chapter, and our Calendar of Events for this year. We hope to see more of you. And hopefully, you will hear from Jackie in next months Presidents Letter section. Ron Myers APICS Michiana AST&L AND APICS: THE MERGER IS FINAL!
