the most pioneering building in London
and a real milestone for the company to
have won the contract. I am extremely
proud to be associated with it and
everyone at the company is excited at the

AT CITY HALL
November 2012 saw the start of
the first ever Living Wage Week
and Principle Cleaning Services
was asked to take part in the
launch event.
The Living Wage Foundation felt that
Lovebridge Achempoang, a member of
Principle Cleaning and Lloyd’s of London
staff, had a story which highlighted the
benefits and was invited to speak at the
official announcement event hosted by
Boris Johnson, The Mayor of London.
A number of other members of
the Principle Cleaning team were also
interviewed and were very pleased to
attend the event.

WINNING
STREAK
CONTINUES
Principle Cleaning Services is
delighted to have been awarded
a portfolio of buildings for Lloyd’s
Register. Lloyd’s Register was
formed in 1760 and has over 8,000
employees worldwide.
It is a non-profit distributing organisation
which aims to be the preferred global
provider of risk management solutions.
The new contract is initially for the
71 Fenchurch Street portfolio which
includes a 12 floor modern Richard
Rogers building constructed in 2000, and
the 1901 Thomas Colcutt building with
special finishes and considerations. Highly
trained staff at Principle Cleaning Services
will now be responsible for the cleaning at
both buildings.
NATIONAL TRUST
HEAD OFFICE
PUTS TRUST IN
PRINCIPLE CLEANING
Following its recent move to a new London office, The National Trust has
appointed Principle Cleaning Services as its cleaning contractor.
Completely independent of Government, The National Trust is a charity that relies for
income on membership fees, donations and legacies together with revenue raised from its
commercial operations. It has over 4 million members, 61,000 volunteers and protects and
opens to the public over 350 historic houses, gardens and ancient monuments.
Staff will be looking after the new head office building based in Victoria, London
which houses upwards of 40 staff. It is an important and prestigious office as the
National Trust’s Director-General, Chairman and Senior Management Team are also
all based there. Cleaning, window cleaning and pest control form part of the on-going
services within the contract.
Karen Bird, Central Office Facilities Manager at National Trust says, “With its first
class reputation, I have every confidence the Principle Cleaning team will manage the
service very well and ensure that the building is always presented at its best. We look
forward to a good start and for the whole site settling in to our new premises.”
CLIENT FOCUS:
LLOYD’S OF LONDON
Principle Cleaning Services has the contract for the high status
Lloyd’s of London building at One Lime Street.
Lloyd’s of London is not a company and the building is not open to the public.
It is the world’s leading insurance market where members join together as
syndicates to insure, and reinsure risk conducting business in over 200 countries
and territories worldwide.
With the company already cleaning its neighbour, 30 St Mary Axe (The
Gherkin), staff at Lloyd’s of London are responsible for the daily cleaning which
is mainly carried out in the evening with a day clean presence and includes
housekeeping duties and cleaning of the ground floor.
Housed in the award-winning modern building in the City of London, an
unmissable building on any tour of the City, Lloyd’s of London is a symbol of the
decadent/contemporary contrast. It is a wonderful gigantic metal building with all
its structures exposed and the lift, being a glass cube located in the exterior of
the building, shows amazing views of London.
Lloyd’s earliest home and its origins lay in the more modest surroundings of
Edward Lloyd’s 17th century coffee house but in 1978 the Committee commissioned
the architect Richard Rogers (now Lord Rogers of Riverside) to redevelop the
Leadenhall site which was officially opened in 1986 by HM The Queen.

FIRST FEMALE
WINDOW
CLEANER
Principle Cleaning and Lloyd’s of
London has its first lady window
cleaner!
After a major glazing project at Lloyds
of London, Principle Cleaning was tasked
with cleaning all the external steelwork and
asked for members of the cleaning team
to join the window cleaners. A number of
volunteers including Ruby, began training
by using the highest cradle on the building.
Ruby has handled the change of role well
and always has a smile on her face even
after two months working outside in the
cold. Well done to her!
MOVEMBER FUN
November was the month to grow
a moustache and at the same
time raise funds and awareness of
prostate cancer.
Principle Cleaning held a competition

Chris Burkert,

ISS Facility Services
Ltd - Integrated
Solutions, Lloyd’s
of London has
nominated
Angelica Martinez
as the October Employee of the
Month, following a number of great
comments with one in particular standing
out from an employee, “I wanted to make
you aware that just before lunch, Angelica
and her assistant personally cleaned
up a very bad mess left on underwriting
boxes by contractors last night, rather
than wait for the actual cleaning staff to be
available. Angelica is constantly impressive
and I wanted to pass on my thanks on
this occasion. The underwriters were very
pleased with the speed and efficiency.”
Manuel Feio
has been
nominated as
Employee of
the Month for
November after this
comment was sent
by Andy Kerr, Building
Manager, Kings Place Building Management.
“Good news… I have had a phone
call from a tenant today telling me about
Manuel and how he puts a lot of effort
into his work. Can you pass on my thanks
to him and tell him that his high standard
of cleaning has already impressed one of
our 4th floor tenants. Keep this up!”
Luana de Jesus and David Maroto
Barros at Taylor Wessing have been

Cleaning’s success
at Taylor Wessing is
the ever presence
of David and Luana
who of course are
our day operatives.
They have provided
a consistently high
level of service and as such have become
very much familiar faces within my
Facilities Team. Nothing is ever too much
trouble for them, and not only do they
carry out their duties to an extremely high
standard, they also do it in a charming
manner, and courtesy always seems to
be their middle name.”
Saloni Sanassy, Building Manager
at Broadgate Estates/Ropemaker
has nominated the whole team for
the quarterly award. “The team are
proactive, reliable and have excellent
attention to detail. They have turned around
what was previously a poor standard of
service provided by the previous cleaning
contractor and we now receive regular
praise and good comments. Could you
also commend Ahmed Hassan who found
a quantity of money in one of the toilets on
level 14 and immediately handed this in to
the occupier’s security – the employee who
lost the money was very impressed at the
honesty of our staff and extremely grateful
to get the money back.”

CUSTOMER PRAISE/
TESTIMONIALS
Teresa Vieira received this praise from
Karen Bird, Central Office Facilities
Manager, National Trust at the start of
the first week of the contract, “I wanted
to say a huge thank you to you and your
team for the wonderful start to our service
agreement. Teresa has been on hand
all weekend and the new staff are very
willing, able and extremely polite and
pleasant. They have all worked extremely
hard to get the office floors and services
(that are available to us) gleaming for the
staff arrival on Monday morning. Nothing
has been too much trouble. Welcome on
board and thank you.”
After a few days of the start of the
cleaning contract Terry Murphy received
this from Steve Forster, Head of
Facilities at Lewis Silkin, “Just a
quick email to say how impressed I
have been since you have taken on the
cleaning contract at 5 Chancery Lane.
The whole process has been pain free for
me and Principle Cleaning has managed
everything beyond my expectations.
The cleaning has improved immensely.
This is exactly the sort of service I need
from my cleaning company. I’m sure
the standard you have set will continue
and I look forward to working with you
and your team and continue the good
understanding we have established
ourselves already.”
“Just a thank you for all the hard work
Timea Bernardt has done in cleaning all
the furniture in the SDR after the carpet
clean. Timea helped to clean all the glass
on the antique furniture etc. She is a very
hard worker, thanks once again.”
Alan Brown, Assistant Curator and
Plate Butler, Lloyd’s Property Services.
