Re : Pre- and Post- Speaking Assessment Procedure and Reminders
I.
June 2015
i. The Speaking Assessment will be given on June 3, 2015, Wednesday between 9:00-15:00.
ii. All classes will be assessed in the assigned classrooms.
iii. THE ASSESSMENT PACKS WILL BE DELIVERED TO THE STAFFROOMS by the floor
monitors between 8:30 and 8:45.
II.
The assessment will comprise tasks which require individual and interactive inter-individual production.
III. Please make sure you do the following:
i. PRE - ASSESSMENT
- Check your assessment tasks and grading sheets and inform the Floor Monitors about any misprinted or
missing pages before going into the assessment rooms.
-
Enter the assessment rooms 3-4 minutes early so that you can start the assessment on time.
ii. DURING ASSESSMENT
- Please follow the instructions.
-
The classroom doors should be closed during the assessment.
-
Please use the speaking assessment criteria for grading.
-
If a student is reluctant to speak or has difficulty in starting off the task, please help him or her by asking
questions and/or encouraging the student to carry out the task, but evaluate accordingly.
If a student has not shown up, that pair will be assessed towards the end of that session; therefore, a
different pair may have entered the room. Please make sure that the names of the students match the
ones on your grading sheet.
-
-
If a student has not shown up, his/her partner will be assessed towards the end of that session with one
student from the last pair or from that session. When a student is acting as a “dummy” and repeating the
task with the student whose partner hasn’t shown up, that student will not be assessed for the second time.
iii. POST - ASSESSMENT
- At the end of the assessment, negotiate the final grade, out of 5, with your partner, and fill in the
relevant column on your own grading sheet.
-
Multiply the final grades of your students by 10 and fill out the Speaking Assessment Grading Chart.
-
Return the assessment pack and the recording devices to the Floor Monitors.
-
Submit the Speaking Assessment Grading Chart to the Group Coordinator by 15:30 the latest.
ALL CLASS INSTRUCTORS WILL ASSESS THEIR OWN CLASSROOMS.
THE FLOOR MONITOR ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE POSTED ON THE DBE BULLETIN BOARD
(B BLOCK BASEMENT) AS WELL AS ON THE dbePORT.
The Floor Monitors are required to be on the floors they are assigned to at 8:40 latest. Please do not be
late as we rely on you in case there is a problem.
