QUICKCHEK SELECTED AS ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO WORK
IN NEW YORK STATE; FRESH MARKET CHAIN CONTINUES TO REAP HONORS
ALBANY, NY --- QuickChek Corporation, a market leader in food services with an exceptional fresh coffee and
fresh food program that has been voted the best in America, has been named one of the Best Places to Work in New
York State for the third consecutive year.
The Whitehouse Station, NJ-based fresh convenience market chain, which has 14 locations in Long Island and the
Hudson Valley, was ranked No. 7 on the list of large employers at a ceremony held April 21 by The New York State
Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).
QuickChek moves up after previously being ranked 13th in 2013 and 16th in 2014.
The family-owned company operates 140 retail locations throughout New Jersey and New York. Privately held,
QuickChek enjoys the rare distinction of being honored in both states, having been named one of the Best Places to
Work in New Jersey for five consecutive years by NJBIZ magazine.
“We firmly believe in being a great place to work, a great place to shop, and a great place to invest,” said
QuickChek CEO Dean Durling. “With over 3,500 team members in 140 stores, we look to create a positive
experience and fun environment where core values are nurtured, hard work is rewarded and leadership is
cultivated.”
The statewide Best Places to Work survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best
places of employment in New York, whose practices benefit the State's businesses, economy, and workforce. What
makes this program unique is how the rankings are derived; each company is not judged by an outsider, but by their
own employee base.
Career opportunities abound. Most of the company’s vice presidents and all of its district leaders started out working
in a company store. Full-time employees are offered a wide variety of affordable health and welfare benefits,
ranging from medical, dental and vision to life insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, fitness center reimbursement, and
even pet insurance.
QuickChek’s award-winning food and beverage program is served up by friendly team members and features touch
screen technology which allows consumers to create custom-made oven-toasted subs, sandwiches, wraps and salads.
The company prides itself on its fresh-brewed coffee, which consumers voted the best coffee in America in a
national survey conducted by Technomic.
Modern by industry standards, a typical QuickChek store creates 35 to 50 new local jobs and generates
approximately $1 million in tax revenue. The company continues to grow, opening new stores each year.
The Best Company ranking is one of the latest honors bestowed upon the fresh market leader. Vice President of Real
Estate Bob Vallario was recently honored at the Townwide Fund of Huntington’s Valentine’s Red Tie Gala in
recognition of the company’s generosity.
Vice President of Human Resources Bob Graczyk has been selected as one of the speakers at the upcoming 24th
annual Society of Human Resource Management Conference and Exhibitors’ Showcase at the Crest Hollow Country
Club in Woodbury, NY on May 8.
