MEDICARE LEVY EXEMPTION
RESERVISTS
Members of the Reserve Force may be entitled to a reduction in their liability for
Medicare levy for the period of Reserve service rendered, including unpaid
service.
Reservists who are engaged under Continuous Full Time Service (CFTS)
arrangements, and therefore afforded a full level of health cover under Defence
Health Services policy, are entitled to claim exemption from Medicare levy based
on their days of Reserve CFTS.
Reservists serving other than CFTS are not entitled to claim exemption from
Medicare levy.
