About TCS IT Wiz
?
TCS IT Wiz, India's biggest IT Quiz for schools was started in 1999 for students in
classes 8-12. The program aims to build awareness and hone IT skills, to help
students look at technology through a whole new perspective. In today's society and
economy IT plays an integral role and is a key enabler for success in diverse fields.
?
Today, TCS IT Wiz in India has become a national benchmark in the inter-school
quizzing circuit for the level of research, the intensity with which teams compete and
the sheer participation numbers it draws. The quiz has received immense patronage
among the student community, teachers, parents and educational institutions and
has become a part of the agenda for schools across India.
?
The TCS IT Wiz 2014 kicked off with the UAE edition in April and will be held in
India from August to November in 14 cities.
?
TCS IT Wiz will make its debut in Singapore on Saturday, August 30, 2014.
Entry & Eligibility

There is NO entry or registration fee.
?
Students from Class / Grade 8 to 12 are eligible to participate.
?
Multiple teams per school (2 members per team) will be allowed to participate.

Rules of the Game
?
On the day of the event, participants should be present at the venue at the
specified time and carry their official identification from the school, if any.
?
Participants will answer the preliminary written round on the pre-printed answer
sheets supplied by TCS.
?
Top teams will qualify for the finals, based on their performance in the written
preliminary round. After the corrections, prior to the Finals, the quizmaster will give
the answers for the prelims and announce the 6 top team names and invite them on
stage to participate in the finals.
?
The finals will include oral questions, audio, visual, connect and rapid-fire rounds.
The scoring system will be explained by the quizmaster before each round.
?
Ties, if any, will be suitably resolved. The quizmaster's verdict will be
final.
About the Quiz Master
TCS IT Wiz has been hosted by noted quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam, popularly
known as Pickbrain, since its inception in 1999. He heads Greycaps India Pvt Ltd, Asia's
largest quiz company, headquartered in Bangalore.
The greatest tribute to his efforts came when the
guru of lateral thinking, Dr.Edward De Bono,
pickbrain
witnessed a quiz and remarked humorously "With all
my lateral thinking, I don't think I can crack
Pickbrain".
Known for his distinctive style of quizzing, Giri's
sense of humour and approachable nature has
earned him several accolades. Giri holds seven Limca
records for quizzing achievements and has hosted
more than 1500 shows across 58 destinations of India. He has also hosted quiz shows in
USA, Srilanka, Singapore and the Middle East. He has authored several quiz books and
also lectures at schools, colleges and corporate houses regularly.

The Quiz will focus on application of Information Technology across various sectors
such as world of Internet and unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms, IT
Personalities - International, national and local, brands of IT and communication
companies, software products and brands, the history of IT as well as its humorous side.
?
The Quiz also covers areas where IT has made an impact - education, entertainment,
books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social
networking, blogging, cell phones, etc.
Format of the Quiz
Prelim: This would be a common set of 20 questions for all the teams at the venue.
Questions would be in the form of oral, visual and audiovisual.
Final: The top six teams from the written prelim would qualify for each regional final.
Only the best team from each school will be called on stage, in the event of multiple
teams from the same school qualifying for the final.
ROUNDS
There will be a unique new format based on the world of internet. Details of each
round will be explained by the quizmaster at the event.
