Bus priority for Bournemouth and Poole
Two contracts to introduce bus priority at 65 signalised junctions have been placed with Siemens
by Bournemouth and Poole Borough Councils. Commencing early 2015, the work includes
amending existing controller configurations, factory acceptance testing and configuring the
SCOOT/UTC database for bus priority. The contracts also include the upgrading of existing
MOVA datasets to incorporate bus priority inputs and on-street validation of bus priority with
SCOOT and MOVA.

EV chargers on order for Cotsworlds
Using grant funding from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles , two Siemens QC45
multi-standard rapid charging points will be installed in Cirencester and Moreton-in-Marsh in
the coming weeks, providing fast charging top-ups for visitors and residents driving electric
vehicles in the Cotswolds. Cabinet Member for Enterprise and Partnerships, Cllr Chris Hancock,
said: 'The new technology will provide an important strategic link between existing charging
points on the M4, M5 and M40, encouraging more drivers to stop off in the Cotswolds. We are
always looking for innovative ways to harness technology and reduce our carbon footprint.
The installation of EV chargers in Cirencester and Moreton will be seen as a very positive step
forward.'

Complete EV packages with 3 years maintenance
Two rapid charging networks consisting of up to forty Siemens QC45 multi-standard rapid
chargers will be installed in South Tyneside and Dorset early in 2015. The contracts include
connection to the Charge Your Car Back Office and also include three years maintenance
support provided by Siemens. 20 Chargers are destined for South Tyneside, with 19 being
installed in Poole and throughout Dorset, where Siemens will be responsible for project
management, installation and commissioning. The Poole and Dorset project will be the first
rapid charging network installed and operated with fully integrated EV parking bay sensors,
based on our SLD4 detection solution. This enables the communication of EV charging bay
availability and also informs parking enforcement teams of parking violations.

Gulf Traffic
Our export sales team travelled to the Middle East earlier this month to take part in Gulf Traffic
at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 08 to 10 December. Attracting
some 850 innovative products from over 200 local and international companies with many of
them conducting exclusive launches at Gulf Traffic, the region's largest traffic transport exhibition
provided Siemens with an opportunity to promote the latest energy-saving and region-compliant
products and solutions, including ST950 and Stratos.

Introducing 3G for Remote Monitoring
A new 3G wireless communications solution which allows Siemens OMUs to be connected to
the company's RMS instation has been launched by the company following extensive field
trials. The newly released 3G option is quick and easy to install and allows both new and
existing installations to use 3G communications without the need for physically wired or fibre
links and with much reduced installation and civil engineering costs.
