Standards, Specifications and Conditions
All Equipment shall be Durable and Safe for School Use.
Equipment wholly or partly funded from public funds is subject to Inspection
by Officers from the Department of Education and Skills
It is essential that tenders and tenderers for equipment for school use shall:

Comply fully with the specifications and be durable and safe for school use.
Comply fully with the standards as detailed and shall comply fully with
European Standards (EN), both established and developing.
Comply with European electrical standards and CE marking as appropriate.
Fully comply with requirements in the Request for Tenders (RFT) document.
Be accompanied by documentation of sufficient detail for full evaluation.
Include the completed and signed certificate of compliance.
Award of a contract is conditional on the production of a current tax clearance
certificate.
Failure to comply with the above may result in the tender being deemed null and
void.

Descriptions and Details
Management and student software is required for a Multimedia Language Laboratory
with 30 student and one teacher/tutor places. The software is to be compatible with
the school network operating system and to be installed on an existing server.
Language software is not included here.
Multimedia computers of suitable specifications will be supplied by the school.
No proprietary ICT or other hardware to be required. The supplier will advise the
Client at the time of tendering, of any specific requirements such as general
sound/video card specifications. The software should not interfere with or prevent
other software being used in language learning.
The software system will facilitate recording and playback of student work and
facilitate the transmission, of video, sound and text files from teacher to student
desk.
The software will enable the teacher to communication with students and their
recordings, individually, as a whole group and, or in pairs or larger groups. The
student will be able to initiate contact with the teacher. Students should be able to
work together in pairs and larger groups.
Each student will be able to record and playback his/her own work and to access a
variety of materials from their desktops to include video, audio, text, and files made
available or prepared by the teacher. The student will also have controlled access to
approved internet sites.
Installation of Training and Support
The supplier will install and fully commission the software and provide, as a
minimum, the equivalent of one full day’s onsite training for school staff. This training
should be provided in three sessions or as agreed with the Client. A half day’s onsite
training to be provided early in the two succeeding school years.
Support shall be provided for three years from the data of installation, during the
school year, from 9:00 to 17:00. This support will include a “helpline” and email query
service and onsite visits, where necessary, to resolve problems.
