TDSB Discovery - School Selection Made Easy
We represent the world as a multicultural, multi-ethnic and multi-racial school.
We welcome and value all students from our community. We offer students a
state-of-the-art pool, a library stocked with over 20,000 volumes, gym facilities
and a full fitness centre. We are a school built on a long and rich academic
legacy of educating four generations of families. Past students served in the two
world wars and we immortalize their sacrifice in our war memorial auditorium.
While we are housed in a new building, we will be celebrating our centennial
anniversary in 2007.
We are a non-semester school, offering academic, applied and essential level
programs for students in Grade 9 through to Grade 12.
Music and Strings
Express yourself in a wide range of music
programs, including vocal, instrumental and
strings offered from Grades 9 to12. Perform
in concerts at Massey Hall and the Kiwanis
Music Festival. Our students have won
awards in the vocal category and consistently
do very well in these events. Perform in our
popular evening of holiday music and spring
concerts as well.
Elevate your music to a higher level. We
offer Grade 12 students a repertoire course
to refine their skills. Learn from teachers who
are all accomplished performers. Travel to
New York City, Boston, and Chicago to see
some of the best artists in the world.

one-on-one peer counselling on any issue.
“Makin’ It Happen” Youth Program - Two of our
dedicated teachers created this supportive program
to help our at-risk students build self-esteem, improve
attendance and achieve their academic goals. We
invite our students to meet with guest speakers and
other students once a week from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00
p.m.

activities. In our very popular exercise course focusing
on physiology, you help prepare students who are
interested in studying physical education or life sciences
at university.
Social Science and Humanities - Understanding
past societies helps us comprehend our future. Enroll
in our ancient civilization, anthropology, sociology,
politics, law, economics and world religions courses

compete in the annual Toronto history contest. Our
law society club addresses legal and safety issues on
behalf of all students. Participate in our annual safety

Our students are focused and serious about
their futures. Over 80 per cent of our graduates
are accepted into the college or university of
choice, with almost one-half of those students
earning university scholarships. One-third of our
graduates are Ontario Scholars.
Our students participate and excel each year in
numerous provincial and national mathematics
competitions, including Euclid, Pascal, Fermat,
Cayley and the University of Waterloo. Past
computer science students have achieved
top honours at the Educational Computing
Organization of Ontario (ECOO) competitions.
We have eight computer labs, with 300 computers
connected to the Internet.
Imagine Students’ Success
Imagine the best school in the world. We were
one of only five schools in the Toronto District
School Board (TDSB) where trained students
interviewed adults to determine how the
school system could be improved. The TDSB
is reviewing those recommendations to make
system-wide changes in the future.
