For Cost Effective, Fast and Easy Installation
PelcoUTP – Connecting With Convenience
Although coax cable has traditionally been the transmission
medium of choice for video security installations, technological
advancements and changing economics have given rise to a
growing number of cabling alternatives. Increasingly, unshielded
twisted pair (UTP) is being used in video security systems. With
significantly lower cable costs, ease of installation, and nearly
universal availability, UTP offers flexibility that is unmatched by
coax, without sacrificing image quality. To deliver these advantages
and more, Pelco is proud to introduce the PelcoUTP series UTP
transmission system for video security.
The PelcoUTP family of products can be used to connect cameras
to DVRs, matrix switchers and MUXs, as well as to transport video
signals from point to point in any application where coax could be
installed. The passive line of PelcoUTP products provide low-cost,
quick and easy installation for short and medium-length runs. The
active line of PelcoUTP products meets the needs of longer runs,
while providing necessary line conditioning. Whatever your cabling
needs, PelcoUTP is your path to connecting with convenience.

Maximize Investment
Architects and engineers are installing UTP everywhere in new construction, and in many older buildings, UTP
exists even where there is no fiber or coax. With PelcoUTP you can leverage your infrastructure and get the most
value from existing structured cabling.
Reduce Cabling Cost
UTP remains considerably less expensive than traditional 75-ohm coxial cable, resulting in tremendous savings for
many installations. UTP also takes up less conduit space, which means more cabling can run in the same conduit
– another source of savings.
Minimize Installation Time
Lighter and smaller than coax, UTP is faster and easier to install, allowing an installer to complete more camera
connections in less time – saving time and money.

The entire active line of PelcoUTP Receivers incorporates the Adaptive Technology. Adaptive
Technology measures the incoming signal and adjusts the low, medium, and high frequency
components, ensuring the best possible video transmission.
Adaptive Technology provides an added benefit for the installer by eliminating the need for manual
adjustment. The adaptive technology automatically compensates and corrects for losses over long
cable runs. Each channel automatically compensates independently, based upon its associated video
output. The adaptive technology is a significant competitive advantage for Pelco and is available on all
Active Receiver modules.
Adaptive technology will automatically compensate the video signal up to 4,000 feet. To see the
difference this technology makes, take a look at the graphic below comparing uncompensated and
