GRADE 9 CONSTRUCTION
Any students joining MCHS in grade 9 are
welcome into Grade 9 Construction. We will get
you on your way to becoming comfortable and safe
with tools, and successful in building projects.
INTRODUCTORY COURSES
Students taking construction for the first time in high school
have the opportunity to build a variety of woodworking or
fabrication projects. Learning basic woodworking and/or welding
techniques and safe tool operation will be the focus of these
courses. Night stands, chess boards and end tables in
woodworking and shelves, tables, and lounge chairs in the
fabrication area are some of the projects students will build.
Introductory Chessboard
Introductory Bedside Table
Intermediate Wooden Table
Intermediate Welded Table
Advanced Cabinetry
Advanced Entertainment Stand
While in grade 9 we want you to get taste of as
many options as possible. By doing so, in the

future, you can focus on areas of your choice.
After gaining valuable knowledge in the introductory project
courses, students will expand their knowledge base in the
intermediate courses. Not only will these courses broaden the
students experiences, but they will also have the opportunity to
plan and manage their own projects. Basic drafting, development
of work plans and cost estimation are some of the project
development skills students will acquire.
Students enrolled in construction 9 will have
construction every day for one of the terms.
During this time you will rotate through 3 areas
and learn welding as well as build a clock and
folding stool.
