Grading will be based upon two exams and five to seven homework written and/or machine problems. Homework
will contribute approximately 10% of your grade with the midterm and final counting approximately 45% each.
In accordance with University policies all work in this class must be your own. No collaboration is allowed unless
it is prearranged with the professor. This course will subscribe to the department’s recommended policy on
cheating: http://www.cs.uiuc.edu/undergraduate/cheating.php. Appeals for homework re-grades must be made
within one week of the return of graded assignments. Request for accommodation for any reason must be made in
writing as soon as the need is known and citing the relevant section(s) of the Code of Policies and Regulations
Applying to All Students explaining why the accommodation is required. Only those accommodations required by
the Code will be granted. Students registered for 4 hours will do a significant term project involving
implementation in the language of their choice together with an appropriate written report. This is due at the last
class meeting.
