Shopko Optical Lab is currently hiring full time 2nd Shift Production Specialist (4 day week,
Mon-Thur 1:30 pm-12:00am).
Position Overview:
Shopko’s Optical Lab teammates are responsible for fabricating eyewear and eyewear components for
our customers throughout all Shopko locations. This position is light industrial with a clean, temperature
controlled environment. On the job training provided for all teammates.
Job duties include:
• Operate optical manufacturing equipment, specialized equipment and hand tools
• Fabricate/assemble/treat/handle lenses through different manufacturing processes, including
adjustments and alignments
• Mount, secure and align finished lenses in frames or optical assemblies, using precision hand tools
• Mount and secure lenses in holding tools or chucks of cutting, polishing, grinding or coating machines
• Shape lenses appropriately for frames
• Assemble eyeglass frames and attach shields, nose pads, and temple pieces using pliers, screwdrivers
and drills
• Inspect lens blanks to detect flaws, verify smoothness of surface and ensure thickness of coating on
lenses
• Clean finished lenses and eyeglasses, using cloths and solvents
• Select lens blanks, molds, tools, and polishing or grinding wheels, according to production specifications
• Examine prescriptions, work orders or broken or used eyeglasses to determine specifications for lenses,
contact lenses, or other optical elements
• Polish lenses manually or with machines
• Perform tasks to produce work that meets standards for quality and accuracy
Minimum Knowledge, Experience & Skill Requirements:
• Lifting 10-20 lbs,
• Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
• Manual and finger dexterity
• Ability to grip and hold items
• Good eye and hand coordination
• Ability to function in a fast-paced production environment

procedures
