offered an allowance to its executives to pay for professional
services like financial planning, tax advice, legal advice, etc.
The Senior Director of Total Rewards Design wanted to
extend planning assistance to 400 director-level employees
across the country. Whether or not a director fully appreciated
the economic value of stock options and awards, retirement
contributions, and medical benefits while working and in
retirement, was in question.
Accommodations were made for members of our team to share
an educational presentation on financial planning and the
new financial planning benefit during district meetings in key
cities, as well as the company headquarters where over half of
the covered employees worked. Webcasts were also scheduled
throughout the year for those who missed the in-person
meeting or for others who wanted to review the presentation
with their spouse. Directors, who voluntarily enrolled, received
a Personal Financial Homepage, unifying their company
benefits, personal assets, and life goals. The benefit also
included advisory time with a Financial Consultant of AXA
Advisors, LLC. The advisory service focused on how company
benefits, combined with personal savings and insurance,
would help them fund key life goals like retirement, children’s

the contract on a year-by-year basis to provide maintenance of
the Personal Financial Home Page and 1 hour of advisory time.
Through AXA Advisors’ network of Financial Consultants,
most directors were able to receive the advisory services in a
local office within a hour of their homes.
Once total rewards were communicated in the context of how
they would be used to fund key life goals for the directors, they
took on personal meaning and new-found value.
