nn Bautista received a B.S. degree in biology from U.C. Riverside in 2007, and a B.S. in physiology from
SF State in May, 2011. She is currently a dental student at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New
Jersey in Newark, and will graduate in 2015.
nna Bohlin is a Swedish exchange student who will graduate in 2011 from the Biomedicine Program in
Uppsala, Sweden. She is from the far northern city of Umea. She studied at SF State for one year and took
classes in biology, dance, and women’s studies. She has three parents, five siblings, and two nude cats. She
plans to work in research, clinical trials, or global health.
arin Busk is an international exchange student from Sweden. She attended SF State in the Fall 2009
and Spring 2010 semesters as part of her Biomedical master’s program at Uppsala University.
ario Calabrese is an international student from Italy where he completed his degree in English,
French, and German Interpretation and Translation before moving to San Francisco in 2006. In Spring 2009,
Dario completed with highest honors his A.A. degree in English with Literature Emphasis at CCSF. In Fall
2010, he received his B.A. in Technical and Professional Writing at SF State. Dario is a recipient of SF
State’s 2009 Diana T.Y. Chung Memorial Scholarship for international students. His interests include traveling, reading, writing, gardening, and cooking. He is pursuing a career as a technical and professional writer
in San Francisco.
rad Casenave, a native of Stockton, CA loves music, cartoons, and writing, among many other things.
Brad graduated from SF State with a degree in Creative Writing and is trying to publish powerful fiction.
Until that happens, look for his name in technical manuals and business reports.
obert Hausman is an undergraduate Biology major at SF State, with a Botany emphasis. His interests
include marine animals and California native plants, both terrestrial and aquatic. He plans to pursue graduate studies in Ecology. Through science writing, he hopes to help the general public understand the importance of preserving and restoring our planet’s precious ecosystems.
ennifer McGowan is currently pursuing an M.A. in Resource Management and Environmental Planning
at San Francisco State University, yet finds managing her own resources a tedious and complicated affair.
She works as a floral designer and is well on her way to stepping foot on every continent before she dies.
gni Naidu is a pre-health student at SF State, and is planning to graduate in 2010 with degrees in
both English and Biology. She would like to pursue a joint M.D./PhD program but would like a career that
involves writing, as well. Agni enjoys drawing, playing tennis, composing songs on the violin, and making
jewelry and plush toys.
ara O’Beirne is working on his Master’s degree in Geography with a focus on Geographic Information
Science. He received his BA in Geography from San Francisco State University in 2007. Born in Ireland and
raised in Southern California, he favors the Bay Area because of its cultural diversity and intellectual enthusiasm. He is currently employed using Geographic Information Systems for an environmental engineering
and planning firm.
imberly Smith is a senior majoring in microbiology at SF State. She enjoys reading the news and exercising. She likes to train her dog and take long walks. She is always curious about new experiences and
has tried skydiving, indoor rock-climbing, and kayaking.
