A Few Things to Remember When Coming In for Advising:




Your NID, PID, and passwords- because we’ll need you to log into
your myUCF account for advising.
We have Walk-In hours throughout the week (M-Th 9a-4p, F 9a-12p),
so appointments are not necessary but are accepted on a case by
case basis.
Our Peer Advisors go through extensive training to advise our psychology students on degree requirements and university policies. If
you have any questions, they are a great resource for talking about
classes or graduate school.
Start thinking about your plans after graduation because we will ask
you about them when you get in the office! We want to make sure
that you have sufficient time and information in preparation for post
-graduate life.

should be taking. Our peer advisors are very knowledgeable when it comes to course requirements for the Psychology major and minor, as well as the Behavioral Forensics Certificate.
Once in the office, our peer advisors will help students understand how to read their degree
audits. Our peer advisors have taken many of the courses offered in our department, so if you
ever have any questions about specific psychology courses and their content, do not hesitate to come on in and ask!

A great way to meet Goal 2 is to get involved in undergraduate research here at UCF! In the Psychology Department

undergraduate Research Assistant. There are 6 in Clinical Psychology, 7 in Applied Experimental/Human Factors, and 5 in
Industrial/ Organizational, Social, and Cross-Cultural Psychology. To get involved in these labs,
apply today on RA Match at this link: http://psy-ramatch.cos.ucf.edu/
Also, there are other ways to get involved in research as an undergraduate such as visiting
the Office of Undergraduate Research (www.our.ucf.edu), or getting involved with research
programs like the McNair Scholars Program (mcnair.ucf.edu/) or the Research and Mentoring
Program (www.ramp.ucf.edu/ ). Getting involved in research as an undergraduate can help
broaden your understanding of the psychology field. Research experience also demonstrates
competence in different areas of psychology, which could help make you a more competitive applicant to graduate programs.

There are many opportunities to develop professionally within the field of psychology during the undergraduate experience with the help of some departmental resources. Internships are offered through both our department as
well as Experiential Learning (CSEL 300).
One internship offered by the Psychology Department is Fieldwork:
Undergraduate Fieldwork PSY3951
This is a psychology elective course that students can take in their Junior to
Senior year. It provides an opportunity for placement at a site in a student’s
field of interest for the sake of gaining knowledge and experience in the field
as an undergraduate student. If a student meets the requirements for the internship they MUST attend an information session with the coordinator, Dr.;
Monique Levermore (Monique.Levermore@ucf.edu), to apply and be accepted into the 3 credit class.
