Quiz study advice
Pre-Chapter Quizzes
The intent of these quizzes is simply to provide an incentive for you to open the book and
get some sense of what we'll be talking about in the chapter. They are almost exclusively
definition-oriented questions.
To prepare for a pre-chapter quiz, spend 5 or 10 minutes skimming through the chapter
and looking for the definitions in the margins. Fill in the chapter study guide for the
definition-related items. Ignore the other parts for now. Begin the quiz while keeping
your book open to refer to.
Post-Chapter Quizzes
The intent of these quizzes is to prepare you for the midterm exams and final exams.
These are application and problem-solving type questions. Very few definitions will
appear.
To prepare for a post-chapter quiz, prepare as if you are going to take an exam. Read
through your notes and/or book (or Publisher PowerPoint files). I strongly suggest
completing the study guides and answering at least some of the study guide questions
(answers are provided on the last page of the study guide). Begin the quiz while keeping
all of your resources open to refer to.
I believe your total time spent on a quiz will be less if you prepare before you open the
quiz. Jumping right to the quiz then having to look through your notes and book to go
searching for answers is not as efficient.
After you finish the quiz
You will receive your score immediately but won't be able to see the questions. Shortly
after the quiz due date and time, I will reset the quiz parameters in Blackboard so that you
can see the questions, your answers, and the correct answers. Click on your score in the
gradebook to link to the questions.
If I do not reset the parameters in a timely manner, please don't hesitate to email me.
If you are not earning the scores you desire, the first action item it to find the questions
you answered incorrectly. Use your resources to figure out why you answered
incorrectly. See me or go to the Help Desk if you have any questions.
