Discuss Spoon River Anthology – E. Masters on pgs. 546549. Discuss ?’s on 549. OR Selection TEST. Write a poem
modeled after one of the poems we’ve read/discussed.

MEET Walt Whitman: Read “Media Connection” on page 400
– then biography/background on 401-402. Read aloud: “I Hear
America Singing” pg. 403 and “When I Heard the Learn’d
Astronomer” 405. Discuss/analyze.
READING WORKSHOP: Read AR
A total of 10 points is due by Thursday, April 29th.

Continue w/ Whitman’s poetry: Read aloud “A Sight in
Camp in the Daybreak Gray and Dim” 406 AND “Beat!
Beat! Drums” 407. Discuss/analyze (review questions on 408
orally). ASSIGN: Creative Writing – Write a short story
based on “A Sight in Camp in the Daybreak Gray and Dim.”
Think of this brief event as the beginning of the story;
continue the story from this beginning … (2 pages). DUE
MONDAY.
