Using the Greatest Common Factor, Least Common Multiple &
The Distributive Property.
1) Bill and Ted are waiting to receive an email from their teacher regarding an
upcoming test. Bill checks his email every 3 minutes. Ted checks his email
every 10 minutes.
If they both start checking their emails at 12 noon, what time will it be when they
both check emails at the same time? How often do they check email at the same
time?
2) Shannon is making care packages for a local senior center. She has 36 tubes of
toothpaste, 48 bottles of hand lotion, and 60 bars of soap to make the care
packages. She wants to have the same number of each item in every package.
a) What is the greatest number of care packages she can make without having any
items left over?
b) Use the Distributive Property to write an expression that represents the
situation. (Write the sum 36 + 48 + 60 as a product of the GCF and a sum of three
numbers with no common factor.)
