The Merit Award is given to trainees who submit high-quality abstracts selected
for presentation at an ASCO Meeting; Breast Cancer Symposium; Gastrointestinal
Cancers Symposium; Genitourinary Cancers Symposium; Molecular Markers in
Cancer Meeting; Quality Care Symposium. Consideration for a Merit Award is
available on the abstract submitter for the appropriate meeting.
To be considered for a Merit Award, the first author of an abstract must be a
physician (MD, PharmD, PhD, DO, or other doctoral degree) enrolled in an
oncology training program at the time of abstract submission, work in an
oncology laboratory or clinical research setting, and agree to present the abstract
at the ASCO Annual Meeting.

The research funding priority for the AAOA Foundation (AAOAF) is support pilot
projects in allergic, inflammatory, and respiratory disease.
Anyone is eligible to apply for a research grant. The funds are paid in US dollars,
and investigators who are funded must present their research at an AAOA fall
meeting, as well as submit a manuscript based on their research to AAOA journal.

The Allen Foundation makes grants to projects that benefit human nutrition in
the areas of education, training, and research. The connections between diet and
health remain a basic and primary priority. Low priority has traditionally been
given to proposals that help solve immediate or emergency hunger and
malnutrition problems. One specific hope of the board of trustees in the future is
to encourage the inclusion of mandatory courses in nutrition in medical schools.
Another desire is to bring the promise of nutrigenomics or nutritional genomics
to realization, thus creating the possibility for empowering individuals to make
informed choices based on genetic information for their diet in order to influence
the balance between health and disease
In order to be considered for an Allen Foundation grant, must be a non-profit

The Conservation, Food & Health Foundation supports special projects and
programs of non governmental organizations in three primary fields of interest:
conservation, food, and health.

The Foundation’s geographic focus is the developing world. It prefers to support
organizations located in developing countries or to developed country
organizations whose activities are of direct and immediate benefit to developing
countries.
Ordinarily the foundation limits its support to those organizations that have
received a letter of determination of tax exemption under Section 501(c)(3) of the
United States Internal Revenue Code and are "not a private foundation" under
section 509(a). However, the directors wish to remain open to the possibility of
supporting certain equivalents, such as a domestic or foreign governmental unit
or agency, or non-governmental, foreign organization determined to be the
equivalent of a 501(c)(3) organization, which can provide secure evidence of its
nonprofit status and charitable purpose.

IARC Expertise Transfer Fellowship

The IARC is offering an Expertise Transfer Fellowship to enable an established
investigator to spend normally from six to twelve months in an appropriate host
institute in a low or medium-resource country in order to transfer knowledge and
expertise in a research area relevant for the host country and related to the
Agency's programmes.
The major areas of activity are focused on understanding cancer etiology,
developing strategies for cancer prevention and elucidating the underlying
mechanisms of carcinogenesis through studies of molecular and cell biology,
molecular genetics, epigenetics and molecular pathology. The Agency also has
strong programmes dedicated to describing the global cancer burden and to the
evaluation of carcinogenicity through its Monographs Programme..
Applicants should be established cancer researchers actively engaged in the field
with appropriate scientific or medical qualifications and an excellent publications'
record. They must also belong to the staff of a university or a research institution.

Applicants must be graduates of Schools of Medicine and younger than age 40
years. Applicants whose careers are in the developing stage are deemed more
suitable candidates than those in senior academic positions.

The aim of the Erasmus Mundus Consortium in Food Science, Technology and Nutrition
(SEFOTECH NUT) is to foster and develop knowledge and awareness of scientific trends and

offers a Master Course which is planned for graduates intending to follow or develop their

The Wellcome Trust supports research of the highest quality with the aim of improving
human and animal health, and our Strategic Plan provides the framework for how we intend
to evolve our support to be even more effective in achieving this aim.
The Research Training Fellowships (Clinical Fellowship) is for medical, dental, veterinary or
clinical psychology graduates who have little or no research training, but who wish to
develop a long-term career in academic medicine. Applications are encouraged from
individuals who wish to undertake substantial training through high-quality research in an
appropriate unit or clinical research facility, towards a PhD or MD qualification.
The fellowship is open to individuals with a relevant connection to the European Economic
Area (EEA) for fellowships to be held in a UK or Republic of Ireland institution. Non-UK
candidates should contact the office for advice before submitting an application.
The candidate should have little to no research experience and it should not normally be
more than ten years from the date of your first medical, dental or veterinary qualification.
Due allowance will be given to those whose career has been affected by a late start or by

The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and
animal health.
Senior Investigator Awards support exceptional, world-class researchers, who hold an
established academic position and have a compelling vision for their research. It will
support researchers who have an international track-record of significant achievement,
who have demonstrated the originality and impact of their research, and who are leaders
in their field.
The research should contribute to the Wellcome Trust's vision to achieve extraordinary
improvements in human and animal health, and the proposal should describe how it will
address one or more of the five major challenges. These are set out in the ten-year
Strategic Plan for 2010-2020.
1. You should have an established academic post at an eligible higher education or
research institution. It means that you are employed on a permanent, open-ended
or long-term rolling contract, salaried by your host institution;
2. You are also eligible to apply if you have a written guarantee of an established
academic post at your host institution, which you will take up by the start of the
award.
The Wellcome Trust encourage applications from outstanding individuals who have worked
in industry or other non-academic research environments, or who have taken career
breaks. Time spent outside a research environment (full or part-time) will be considered
when assessing your eligibility.

ABA International Education Exchange Program
American Burn Association
American Burn Association (ABA) is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone
affected by burn injury through patient care, education, research and advocacy.
The ABA has more than 3,500 members in the United States, Canada, Europe,
Asia, and Latin America. Members include physicians, nurses, occupational and
physical therapists, researchers, social workers, firefighters, and hospitals with
burn centers. Our multidisciplinary membership enhances our ability to work
toward common goals with other organizations on educational/prevention
programs.
The International Education Exchange Program provides funds for members of
the burn care team from other nations, particularly developing countries, to visit
burn units in the United States or Canada.

The Gateway’s research mission is to support patient-centered research that
improves cancer treatment outcomes and restores the cancer patients’ quality of
life. Since its inception 20 years ago, The Gateway has funded 92 innovative
cancer research projects with new trials added throughout the year. The quality
of The Gateway funded research continues to improve every year, as we continue
to pursue the most exciting prospects for cutting-edge clinical cancer research to
find better treatments and cures for today's cancer patients.
The Gateway supports innovative clinical research in conventional as well as
complementary therapies.
The Gateway for Cancer Research funds innovative cancer clinical trials all over
the world in all types of cancer. There is no geographic restriction.
