NICHD and many NIH institutes support research (R01; R03; R21) that highlights lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex (LGBTI), and related populations. Of special interest is research on how sexual orientation and gender identity influence health, perceptions and expectations about health, health behaviors, and barriers and access to health-related services. Also of interest, is how the household and family structures of LGBTI individuals influence the health, development, and well-being of children in these households and families. Expires 5/8/15.
