MEASURING INSTRUMENTS
AIM:
The aim of this experiment is to test your ability to use certain instruments found in a
school AS/A2 laboratory.
YOU WILL NEED:
(a) vernier callipers (b) micrometer screw gauge (c) travelling microscope (d) a metre
rule.
WHAT TO DO:
Use one or more of the above instruments to measure:
(a) the thickness of the sheet of card
(b) the diameter of the copper wire
(c) the internal diameter of the test tube
(d) the internal diameter of the capillary tube
(e) the length of the metal plate
(f) the distance between both pairs of lines on this sheet
(g) the area of one of the laboratory tables
(h) the diameter of the marble
(i) the volume of the Physics laboratory that you are in
Note: You are only allowed to use one metre rule.
Comment on the accuracy of all your values.
