APPLICATION FOR FUNDS FOR HOSTING A CONFERENCE AT UZ
NB: Applications will only be considered if complete information is supplied, together with
necessary supporting evidence. This form is available on the University website at
http://www.research.uzulu.ac.za. Submit the complete application to your dean, and then the
faculty research representative, for checking and record and onward transmission to the office
of the Chief Research Administrator.
This category is designed to support departments who are hosting academic conferences at UZ that will
make an impact on research undertaken in their own and related departments. It is seen as matched
funding that will contribute to the costs of invited speakers, administrative costs, and preparation and
publishing of the proceedings. Applications must be supported by motivations and detailed budgets, and
reports must be submitted within six weeks after the conference. Amounts of up to R50,000 may be
applied for. Applications are to be made, or supported, by the head of the department concerned.
Departments will only qualify for one allocation per year. Departments may use this funding in
conjunction with funding for research visitors, provided both sets of conditions are met.
