JOB DESCRIPTION Post: Senior Radiographer Responsible to: Consultant Radiographer Liaising with: Consultant Radiologists Accountable to: Head of Professional Services Normal base: Action Cancer House / BIG BUS (Mobile Unit which travels around NI) Hours: Hours negotiable 14-35 hours per week Salary: Band 6, points 21 – 29 : £25,783 - £34,530 Dependant on experience _____________________________________________________________________ OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: As an experienced, senior practitioner, the Senior Radiographer will assist the Consultant Radiographer and Advanced Radiographer in the provision of a quality breast screening service to self-referring women throughout N.Ireland. Sessions will take place in Action Cancer House and on-board the charity’s BIG BUS mobile unit. This job will involve working early morning & late evening clinics and also being part of a rota to cover Saturdays. Main Duties Provide mammography sessions for women attending Action Cancer House and on the Big Bus. Be accountable for her own radiographic practices Assist with the effective administration of the service and the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date patient records for all women using the breast screening service. Maintain high quality clinical standards for radiography in Action Cancer House and on the Big Bus and operate at all times within local and national guidelines for mammography and quality assurance. Provide the highest standards of personalised care for women attending Action Cancer, ensuring that their experience of attending the charity is a positive one. Liaise with clinical administration staff to ensure the smooth operation of the service. Assist the Radiographer Consultant and Advanced Radiographer with the delivery of an efficient mammography service through the effective use of resources and the maintenance of equipment in Action Cancer House and on the Big Bus. 14.B.03 Liaise with colleagues in other relevant departments to ensure the smooth running of the breast screening provision in Action Cancer House and on the Big Bus. Maintain own professional development and updated knowledge and skills. Participate in such internal/external committees and/or working groups as may be necessary. Monitoring, evaluation and quality standards Assist with the regular auditing and evaluation of Action Cancer’s breast screening services, contributing to reports as required. Ensure equipment control checks/preparations are carried out on a daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly basis. Assist the Advanced Practitioner Radiographer with Quality Assurance program for the Big Bus and Action Cancer House. Health and Safety Undertake all duties in accordance with Action Cancer policies to ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are met, including the Health and Safety at Work Order 1978 and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations. Ensure full compliance with and implement the local Rules on the use of Ionising Radiation according to the Ionising Radiation Regulations, Northern Ireland (2000) and amendments of 2010 Compliance with client confidentiality requirements & all aspects of Data Protection Act Participate in the investigation and prevention of accidents and incidents. Contribute to the ongoing promotion of Action Cancer’s positive profile and image, particularly in relation to Radiography. Recognised professional qualification in diagnostic radiography 2. Minimum one year post-graduate clinical experience as a diagnostic radiographer 3. Ability to achieve Certificate of Competency in Mammography within 18 months of appointment 4. Registration with HPC (Health Professions Council) 5. Member of Society of Radiographers or hold other form of personal indemnity insurance 6. Excellent organisational skills 7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 8. Hold a full, current driving license with business insurance and have access to the use of a car or some other appropriate form of transport to carry out the duties of the post in full. 9. Flexible and available to work hours to meet the needs of the role – including evenings and weekends. Desirable Criteria 1. Recognised professional qualification in Mammography 2. IT skills and experience 3. Experience of working on a screening mobile 4. Experience in participating in Quality Assurance program 5.
