MEDICO LEGAL EXPERIENCE
I am an expert witness currently registered with Sweet & Maxwell and also with the Law Society
between 2001 and 2004. I carry out and prepare 20-30 medico-legal assessments and reports per
year. I cover areas of Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology (including PI, RTA’s, Brain Injury,
Accidents at Work, PTSD, Cognitive Assessments, Dyslexia etc). Ratios of claimant/defence/joint
cases are 81/17/2 % respectively. I appear in court approximately once a year.

I am the Managing Director of Psicon Ltd, a Psychological and Psychiatric Consultation Service
established in 1998. Psicon offers services to occupational health providers, company clients and
their employees, National Health Service, Social Services, solicitors and private patients including
individuals, families and couples. Psicon is the official psychology service for a number of companies
including a pharmaceutical company with over 3000 employees and a civil service employer with
around 1500 employees.
The occupational psychology services (proactive and reactive) include direct therapy/treatment and
rehabilitation for employees with psychological difficulties, training in various areas of occupational
psychology including trauma debriefing, as well as workshops and individual coaching and
mentoring. Psychologists at Psicon are able to respond at short notice for crisis management in
various environments and have also acted as mediators in dispute resolution.

Since leaving my position in the NHS in September 2007 I lead a team of professionals offering a
range of services including assessment and report preparation and neurorehabilitation programmes
in a variety of community settings. I provide training programmes for professionals who work with,
and carers of, those people who have sustained an acquired brain injury and also a consultation
service to those providing support to patients/clients with neurological conditions.

Head of East Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service
East Kent Community NHS Trust (1997 – 2007)
I was the first Head of the East Kent Clinical Neuropsychology Service which was started in 1997. I
lead a team of three neuropsychologists, three psychology assistants, brain injury case manager
and two full time secretaries in offering a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment, treatment
and rehabilitation service to patients across East Kent (650,000 population). From being the only
psychologist in the neuropsychology specialty I developed the service to a department of nine
people and we offered direct and indirect patient treatment, training and education, workshops,

supervision and staff consultations. I was a member of a team instrumental in the opening of a
local neurorehabilitation unit (28 beds) and played a leading role in the provision and development
of Neuropsychology/Neurorehabilitation services in East Kent.
