Qualifications / Experience & Qualities Required:
1. Qualified to a degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or closelyrelated discipline;
2. A minimum of 5 years demonstrable detailed conceptual through to finished
prototype mechanical design experience (‘cradle-to-grave’);
3. Experience in the design of complex, low volume precision-engineered
mechanical systems using CAD/3D solid modelling packages;
4. Knowledge and expertise of high pressure seals, pressure vessels,
electromechanical systems, hydraulics and fluid dynamics;
5. Demonstration of analytical approach to design, including stress calculations;
6. Report writing and communications skills should be well above average;
7. Detailed knowledge and understanding of manufacturing techniques appropriate
for precision-engineered products;
8. Experience in Design for Manufacture & Design for Test techniques and
approaches;
9. Good team-working skills, flexibility and self-motivation are essential.
Qualifications / Experience & Qualities Desired:
1. Ideally a minimum of 2 years of experience in Pro-Engineer CAD package;
2. Experience in Finite Element Analysis for stress analysis;
3. Knowledge and experience of Product Data Management systems and general
engineering configuration controls;
4. Experience of participation in fast-paced research & development projects;
5. Evidence of creativity in developing new concepts would be an advantage.

Safety By Design
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Innovative conceptual and practical mechanical design to internal/client
specifications.
2. Practical design and proving of design concepts, including relevant design
calculations and material selection.
3. Compiling technical proposal & specification documentation.
4. Production of high quality engineering models.
5. Design/creation of test schedules and plans for new products.
6. Compilation of mechanical sections of product operations and maintenance
manuals.
7. Product design, development and support from cradle to grave
8. Complete ownership of new Projects ensuring Gantt Charts and documentation
are regularly updated and correctly maintained.
9. Maintaining Technical Standards and Technical Notes.
10. Safeguarding Best Design Practise Methodologies and state-of-the-art
Knowledge database.
11. Operate at all times in accordance with Guardian procedures.
12. Compliance with all statutory and corporate QHS&E requirements.
13. You may be asked to perform other duties not included above, but which will be
consistent with the role outlined.
