Brief course description
This course provides the knowledge about the structure and function
of different types of freshwater ecosystems offering students the
opportunity to gain a range of practical skills in assessment and
monitoring of water quality and aquatic biodiversity.
Lecture topics: Water as a life medium. Aquatic communities.
Adaptation of organisms to different life conditions. Energy transfer
and trophic interactions. Pollution, eutrophication and climate and
environmental changes. Protection and revitalization. Field work:
sampling techniques. Laboratory analyses: physico -chemical water
properties; sediment; biocenoses. Statistical analyses.
