Seniors: Sign up in the counselor center for an Oklahoma PTA
scholarship. This is a state-wide scholarship. There will be a SHS PTSA
scholarship opportunity in March. These are 2 different scholarships. For
an application, see Mrs. Shubert. The deadline for the OK PTA scholarship
is April 1st. More details to come on the SHS scholarship.
2. Southmoore Football Needs Students for the 2011 Video Crew! Like to
work with high dollar equipment? Like to travel to sporting events? Come
be a part of the Team! Signup on gosabercats.com Time is running out.
3. ATTENTION SENIORS!!! It is time for the PTSA Southmoore Senior
Scholarships. We are very excited to say we have raised enough money to
offer at least six (6) $500.00 scholarships this year. The only requirements
to be eligible for these scholarships are to be a member of PTSA, attending
college or tech school in the fall of 2011 and to personally sign-up in the
counselor’s office the week of March 28-31.
This will be each seniors last opportunity to purchase their PTSA
MEMBERSHIP CARD for $4.00 that will allow them to sign-up for the
$500.00 scholarships.
So Seniors, sign-up today in your English class and PTSA could help you
with college....
4. The Southmoore Writing Club is currently planning a community service
project that includes creating an original children’s book with illustrations. If
you are an artist or creative writer and want to collaborate with the SHS
Writing Club, please come to our weekly meetings every Tuesday after
school in Mr. Wilmarth’s room, S216.
5. VOULENTEERS NEEDED!!!The End- of –Instruction exams are quickly
approaching and the Counseling Department needs help. If you or
someone you know is 18 years or older and willing to be a test monitor
during the weeks of April 18th, 25th, May 2nd and May 9th please contact
Amanda Sykes at 735-4918. We must have monitors to conduct the
exams; any help is appreciated.

It’s election time at Southmoore! The next two weeks will be the election
period for Student Council officers and Class officers for the 2011-2012
school year. If you are interested in running for a Student Council office,
you must attend one of two informational meetings—either Tuesday
morning at 7:45 or Wednesday afternoon at 3:15 both in Mrs. Lehew’s
room. If you are interested in running for a Class office, you must attend
one of two informational meetings—either Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 or
Wednesday morning at 7:45 in Mrs. Smalley’s room, s106. Consider being
a part of the planning process for Southmoore!
7. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. - Oklahoma City Alumnae Chapter
proudly presents the 3rd annual A Cinderella Story, a free prom dress
giveaway for girls who cannot afford the cost of purchasing a dress this
prom season. The giveaway will be held on Saturday, March 26th from
10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Langston University - Oklahoma City Campus
located at 4205 N. Lincoln Blvd. There is no eligibility and first Come,
first served.
8. Prom 2011 - for prior approval, prom guest forms are due today. (3/9-3/21)
9. Multicultural Club will have a meeting Thursday befre and after school in
Cadtellanos' room!
10. Need a SaberCard? Great discounts that include a buy one get one movie
ticket. They are 20 dollars. Go see a football player to get yours today.
11. BSA will be meeting in Room N114 on Thursday @ 3:00. Again, BSA will
be meeting in Room N114 on Thursday @ 3:00
12. Attention current Sophomores and Juniors: Link Crew applications are
available in the Media Center. They must be completed and turned in by
April 1st to Mrs. Lee in the Media Center or Ms. Ferguson in N113. (3/224/1)
13. There will be a mandatory Youth and Government meeting this
Wednesday, March 23rd at 7:45am. It will be in Mrs. Seabolt’s room, N121. We have several things to discuss before our State Conference trip
later this week. Please be on time. Thanks, Mr. McConville, Mrs. Seabolt
and Ms. Crawford.
14. Southmoore Pom is hosting a fundraiser at Ghengis Grill this Thursday.
Go eat some great food and mention to your server that you would like
them to donate to Southmoore pom and we will receive 20% of your ticket!

15. Our Southmoore writers have once again been awarded for their talent!
Junior Samantha Curran submitted an essay to the OEC’s Energy Essay
Contest and placed in the top ten. She is moving on to present her essay
for a chance to win prize money and a trip to Washington D.C. Nick
Serwoski, a senior Creative Writer, won the Oklahoma Writing Project’s top
award for his personal narrative, “On a Moonlit Walk,” and Mr. Wilmarth
also won the Oklahoma Writing Project’s teacher award for his descriptive
paragraph, “The Things a Teacher Carries.” Congratulations to Samantha,
Nick, and Mr. Wilmarth!
16. The Scholastic Meet at SWOSU is this Thursday, March 24th. Any student
planning to participate must return a signed permission slip to Mrs. Chavez
in room S102. If you have not yet picked up a permission slip come to
room S102 ASAP. Please let Mrs. Chavez know TODAY if you are NOT
able to go on Thursday. Remember the bus LEAVES Thursday at 7:45
am.
17. “Girls interested in playing volleyball this 2011 season need to attend a
short meeting Thursday, March 24th in gym after school. If you can’t make
it, you need to contact Coach Brannon”
18. “AP exam orders are due by today to Ms. Connel in room S111. This is the
absolute last day to accept an AP exam order form and payment. If you
have questions, please see Ms. Connel or your AP teacher.”
