TOTAL CLEARANCE OF ALL MALES
AT FIRST CHAROLAIS SOCIETY SALE IN
MACROOM
On their first visit to Macroom Mart, Charolais breeders were very
pleased with the good steady trade for bulls which resulted in a
100% clearance.
Prices ranged from €1450 to €2,900 for the champion BOULTEEN
URANIUM, bred by West Cork breeder, Clive Jennings, Boulteen,
Enniskeane. By “Bova Oniraloin” and out of a dam by “Indurain”
he was purchased by Bernard McHugh, Carhue, Dundrum, Co.
Tipperary.
Reserve Championship went to Jim & Ivan Ryall, Knockane,
Castlemartyr, Co. Cork, for their bull “Gurtavalla Viscount”. By
“Oldstone Egbert” and out of a dam by “Shamrock Ambassadeur”
he sold for €2,600 to Gearoid Riordan, Derryvoleen, Ballingeary,
Co. Cork.
William O’Riordan, Castlelyons, recd. €2,400 for a son of Organdi
Robert Cronin, Oysterhaven, recd €2,300 for a son of Mozart
Bart Desmond, Macroom, recd, €2,300 for a son of Dovea
Pinocchio
Richard Murphy, Banteer, recd. €2,300 for a son of Royal Sire
Trevor Levis, Skibbereen, recd. €2,300 for a son of Hollowtree
Romeo
Average price for all bulls was €2068.
Championship in the small female section went to Conchur
O’Luasa, Sliabhriach, Ballyvourney, Co. Cork for his heifer
SCRAHAN SAMANTA. By his stock bull “Scrahan Peter” (sire
Indurain) and out of a home bred dam by “Dollar” she sold for
€2,300 to Eilis Twomey, Fornaught, Donoughmore, Co. Cork
Average price for heifers was €1800 with a range from €1500 to
€2,300
