CHAMPION SELLS FOR €8,500
AT FIRST CHAROLAIS SALE IN 2004.
“Blakestown Theo” was the star of the show and the sale in Tullamore
on Saturday last, when he received the Male Championship sash and top
price of the sale - €8,500. Bred by Patsy McCabe, Blakestown, Ardee,
Co. Louth, he was purchased by John Rogers, Crewbane, Slane, Co.
Meath. “Theo” is by “Blakestown Seigneur” and out of a home bred dam
by “Blakestown Jouvenceau”. He is a half brother to “Blakestown
Trustee” whose semen is being sold to commercial men looking for
outstanding muscling.
Reserve Champion “Firoda Tornado”, bred by Seamus Nolan, Firoda,
Castlecomer, Co. Kilkenny, sold for €3,000 to Edward Fagan,
Rathcolman, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. By “Domino” his maternal
grand sire is “Brampton Ace”.
 Joseph Lyons, Swinford recd. €4,400 – son of “Meillard”
 Dr. T. Ryan, Lyons Demesne recd. €4,000 – a son of “Indurain”
 Padraig Boyle, Athenry recd - €3,400 – a son of “Indurain”
 Denis Carey, Carrignavar, Co. Cork recd €3,000 – a son of “Jupiter”
 Dr. T. Ryan, Lyons Demesne recd - €3,000 – a son of “Gin Tonic”
 Michael Nerney, Elphin recd. €2,900 – a son of “Meillard”
 Richard O’Beirne, Kilconly, Tuam recd €2,900 – a son of “Excellent”
 Frank Motherway, Killeagh, Co. Cork, recd €2,800 – a son of
“Doonally New”
 Martin Ryan, Thurles recd €2,800 – a son of “Nectargerc”
Price range for bulls was from €1,000 - €8,500
with an average of €2515 and an 80% clearance.
Female Champion “Clandonagh Thera” came from the herd of Liam
Walsh, The Old Rectory, Rathdowney, Co. Laois. By his stock bull
“Hanovre” and out of a home bred dam by “Mirabeauce” she sold for
€2,650 to John Stanley, Finner Rd., Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary.
Reserve Female was “Coolrain Tombola” bred by Gearoid & Padraig
Kennedy, Coolrain, Portlaoise. By “Pinnochio” and by maternal grand
sire “Ecrin” she sold for €2,500 to Kevin Burke, Enniscoffey, Mullingar,
Co. Westmeath.

Champion Female at the Charolais Show and Sale In Tullamore – Clandonagh Thera
shown by Tom with owner Liam Walsh. She sold for €2,650.
Reserve female champion "Coolrain Tombola" bred by Gearoid and Padaric Kennedy
Derryduff, Coolrain, Portlaoise. She sold for €2500.
