ASU American Indian Student Organizations
Students have opportunities to enhance their leadership skills, meet friends and create a sense of community through
getting involved with different organizations. There are more than 500 student organizations at ASU, representing

American Indian Council (AIC)
AIC is one of seven minority student coalitions on the Tempe campus. AIC provides and encompasses all aspects of
support for the American Indian student organizations presently active at ASU. The Council hosts Native American
Day, Feast-n-Fest, and American Indian Cultural Week.

American Indian Graduate Student Association (AIGSA)
AIGSA provides ASU’s American Indian graduate students with social, academic support and community. As
paraprofessional leaders, AIGSA serves as mentors to ASU’s American Indian undergraduate students and as
academic liaisons within the larger American Indian communities. AIGSA strives to promote awareness within the
university and surrounding communities on American Indian culture, issues, and concerns.

NABO provides assistance to members to excel academically, develop professional business etiquette skills, and
promote cultural and social awareness to the ASU community and its affiliates.

Native American Legal Student Association (NALSA)
NALSA is a large and active group of Native and non-Native law students, committed to promoting the study of
Federal Indian law by supporting its members’ pursuits and participation within the Indian legal community and
providing Indian Communities with exceptional advocates.

Native American Student Organization (NASO)
NASO is a student-based club that is involved in campus activities, community service projects, fund raisers, and
Club socials. NASO works with the Native American Student Services Program (NASSP) on bringing people on
campus to discuss a variety of subjects (ranging from health issues to scholarship info.) of interest to Native
students. The club is open to membership by both Native and non-Native students.

American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)
AISES seeks to enrich the fields of science and engineering with Native traditions and to strengthen communities
with knowledge, recourses, and innovation.

Alpha Pi Omega Sorority, Inc. (APiO)
APiO is the oldest Native American Greek letter organization with over 400 sisters around the country. The
sorority's mission and values reflect concern for education, spirituality, contemporary issues, and traditionalism.
Arizona State University is home to the Iota Chapter; currently has 19 sisters from 9 different tribes.

Phi Sigma Nu Fraternity
Phi Sigma Nu members empower Native Men to collectively engage in academic, social, cultural and physical
realms to promote and inspire growth in tribal families, tribal communities, the U. S. and the world at large.

Mr & Ms Indian ASU Pageant Committe
The purpose of the Ms. and Mr. Indian ASU committee is to act as ambassadors of ASU to surrounding Native communities.
We seek to inform the Native population on the ASU campus about the various resources available to them. The MIASU
committee plans the annual MIASU pageant every spring. MIASU hopes to instill and provide a positive image of Arizona
State Univeristy to Native people.
