Aimed at individuals associated with learning and development industry, such subject matter experts
fulfilling a part-time or short term training role, those engaged in sales, marketing or course administration.
Affiliation Status would be open to those holding a Learning and Development Level 2 qualification or
students working towards other qualifications that would make them eligible for Professional Grade
Membership. Although not a Professional Grade of membership this does provide membership benefits

Associate membership (ABILD)
This is the entry grade to Professional Grade membership and carries the designatory letters ABILD.
Requires the achievement of a Learning and Development Level 3 qualification. Requires at least two
years full-time experience in a learning and/or development role and commitment to the BILD Code of

Member (MBILD)
This is a professional grade carrying the designatory letters MBILD for successful applicants. Requires the
achievement of a Learning and Development Level 4 qualification. Requires at least five years experience

Fellow (FBILD)
This is a professional membership grade and carries the designatory letters of FBILD for successful
applicants. This grade recognises those with a Learning and Development Level 5 qualification. Requires
at least ten years extensive experience with some of this at a strategic level in a learning and/or
development role, commitment to the BILD Code of Conduct and a reference from a current client or
